The whisper of an Italian...

...was heard while attending the motorcycle show in Spokane over the weekend.

I love my 2012 DL650, I have had fun adding accessories while keeping them reasonable

... and my 2003 Vee was good for my soul...

but the Stelvio is whispering to me, and I don't even understand her language...

...and my lady is no help. 'We need to go back and look at that Moto Guzzi, again.'

'The V-Strom is only a year old and I'm getting it right where I want it...'

She comes back with, 'Look how easy it will be to maintain, and no more chain maintenance or chain and sprocket replacement.'

'The V-Strom is nice and I've been getting pretty good mpg from it...'

'Come on, let's go back and look at it again!' she says.

We did, I am in lust.

I've done a bunch of reading, checked insurance rates, been to the CU and got a letter saying for the dealer to contact them relative to the pre-approved financing. Going back to Spokane tomorrow to have a ride.

Likely riding her home...!

Thanks for reminding me of the Motorcycle Show, Tom!

Your Italian mistress was whispering, "Ti voglio molto bene."

Looks like a jilted 2012 Glee will be on the market soon...

Try not to feel too guilty on the ride home - the heart wants what the heart wants!

A buddy has an older Stelvio. He likes it but takes a long to gas up because the opening is so small and he doesn't want to spill any nasty gas on his little Italian tart.
He has also spent a bit of money on tuning to get it to run right.
If you have a problem, all the parts have to come from a locked warehouse in New Jersey if you can find a dealer to do warranty work.
That being said, I've been to Guzzi Rallies and they are an enthusiastic bunch that knows how to party!
I'd rather an older Lemans.

big_tone,
Along with the strom is a GL1800, an XR650R and a TW200--officially hers.

If I didn't have a few others, I'd like to keep it, too!
I'd still like to keep it, but it makes even less sense than seriously considering an Italian bike!

I don't know where that figure came from but the bike weight on the new bike paperwork is 471 lbs.
One of the things that Guzzi does is provide a weight for the bike as it was intended to be sold. If you look at the NTX with racks, bags, crash bars, 8.? gallon tank, accessory lighting, 12V receptacles, heated grips, etc. then the price that you find is what the things supposed to weigh WITH all of that stuff!

Go weigh your V-Strom as it sits and you'll be shocked at what you find. Many are...

My woman understands that most everything requires maintenance...

... and she is on the lower end of the scale! A good, dependable, down to earth woman that is not ashamed to show herself without makeup on, she's beautiful just the way she is...

...and I'm going to keep her if I can!

I had a GSPD and love it. I had it 19 years and sold it. I rode maybe 500 miles in the last 4 years that I owned it. Once I got the Strom, I really didn't miss the GSPD.
2 years ago I bought a Quota. I immediately took it apart to clean it up. It only had 4500 miles. My Quota is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. It flat out give a 1000% more confidence in the turns than my Strom.Handling inspires confidence. The feel is very visceral. A Sportster has a smoother shifting transmission than a Quota. Some of the design of the Quota is just timeless. Very easy to work on. Until my recent problems of my Strom, the Strom never broke so complexity was never an issue.
There's just something about a Guzzi. At some point I really want a Stelvio or possible a Norge(I've seen at least 4 smoking hot deals on used Norges)
A Stelvio is just bad ass. A sane person just doesn't understand why someone likes Guzzi. Houston is also very fortunate to have one of the finest Guzzi dealers in the World...MPH Cycles.
Stelvio Riders, I hope to join you.

Sweet enjoy the new ride. I know Marc will be interested to hear how you like your new machine. I hope we can get in some miles this year since I just seem to be in your neck of the woods more often these days. Yes Henry has an awesome wife I have had the personal pleasure of meeting her. She is a keeper.

Yeah, we need to do some riding!

She is DEFINITELY a keeper!

After the first 60 miles or so, reset the mileage calculator and running about 42 mpg at 78-79mph. Not even broken in yet.
Got to love that TALL sixth gear!

Sweet I am sure the milage will just get better for you. I will be in touch about the riding I know the wife will be up for some on the weekends as well. She does not really get anything for vacation untill she has been there a year. That will happen soon enough. Stay in touch and let us know how that new steed is doing.
