I have no idea about this bike. I am very knowledgeable about motorcycle repair and i just bought a used vstrom dl1000 and i know nothing about it. I was noticing there is a center stand on mine and the rubber bump stop on it is dried out and hard as a rock. It makes a banging noise when hitting bumps. Is this found on a stock bike?? I was looking to replace the bump stop on it and cannot find it anywhere. According to bike bandit and they say that a center stand does not exist on this model unless it was after market. I was hoping to ask you all here if you knew about these stands.
I believe centerstands were/are an optional accessory on all Vstroms. Suzuki makes them but they were not standard equipment. As noted by TV, there are also third party centerstands.
If you have the oem centerstand the part number for the bumper should be 09321-10017. Should be around $3.00 - $4.00. You might want to check your local Ace Hardware.
I'm not sure if this bumper (Suzuki calls it a cushion) will work with the third party centerstands or not.
Just installed the SW Motech stand based upon the recommendations from this site. Went on like a dream and works wonderfully well. It was a good quality stand and well finished. The parts lined up well, and while the directions were a little lacking, I just went onto youtube and watched the installation there, and it went on without a hitch. I guess we will see over time but honestly I only see it "breaking in" when it goes up and down more readily. I love the piece and the result.
