Ortlieb panniers vs. Giant Loop

Ok guys, this is my last question regarding this topic, honest.

A buddy and I will be doing a trip from Anchorage to Great Slave Lake and back this summer and need to decide what soft luggage to use.

It will either be Ortlieb panniers or Great Basin bag, so here are my questions:

1. Ortlieb states 52 liters capacity and great Basin 50 liters, so pretty even. So question is this. Ortlieb packing space is basically a box and Great Basin a long tapered tube. To me, I would think Ortlieb would be easier to pack and actually carry more? Your thoughts?

2. The 2013 version of Great Basin does not have the built in 2 fuel bottle pouches or the so called built in sleeping bag pouch. Whic of the two designs do you like best?

I am leaning towards Great Basin.

Thanks, again.

Giant loop products are awesome. I would go with them.

I have not personally owned the great basin, but I did own own of their tank bags. Quality is amazing. I don't know anything about the Ortleib, but I think the organization in the Great Basin is really cool. I'm sure you've seen all the youtube videos reviewing it.

I have a Giant Loop Great Basin bag that I've used on my smaller dual sports. (WR250R and DR650). It's a great product to be able to carry a decent amount of gear on a "dirt bike" configured ride. It rides well, is very tough and carries a lot of gear. It comes with some form fitted inner bags to help with organization.

Since I already have it I'll be giving it a try on the Wee. I am concerned though-the material does rub on the material of the bike and will scuff it up pretty quickly. I'm going to put some sort of adhesive backed plastic "paper" on the bike first on the contact areas to protect the finish. I'd like to add a pannier system sometime, but for now the Giant Loop is paid for!
