Windshield on top two screws only?

I screwed up and when I mounted my ram mount ball, somehow i flipped the bracket upside down, so instead of being at the top of the windshield bracket it was at the lowest point. I have to run the windshield now at the highest position with only the top two screws holding it or, of course, I can redrill, but I've ridden it with it in this positions and it helped cut down on the buffeting.

Should I be concerned that there are only two screws holding it in there now?

Thanks for your input.

I am not an engineer, but that sounds like a lot of stress being put on 2 screws. A good headwind and a decent speed and you might find yourself eating a windshield. I shudder to think what it might be like if it hit you in the neck, or struck a vehicle behind you.

Many years ago I had an aftermarket screen snap off at 150 mph on my ZZR-600 after I cracked it at one of the screw holes.

It wasn't fun to suddenly find yourself in that kind of wind blast. :D

The useless engineer in me reports:

At speed, the top of the screen has wind pressure against it... PSI. It has so many square inches. PSI x area = a force. The top of the screen is so many inches from those top screws. Force x distance = torque. Now integrate that for all the area and all the force up the windshield to get all the little torques at all the distances away from those screws and you can figure out how many ft-lb of wind are working to twist your windshield off back over the dashboard.

The lower set of screws supplies a force to oppose the rotation of the top of the screen down into the tank under wind pressure.... there's a force trying to pull the bottom screws OUT... it's the torque from the top of the screen/distance between the two sets of screws. Well, that minus the down force of wind against the lower half of the screen.

Yeah, I know that doesn't help, but it's cool stuff, right?
