I started to install my new Gear Position Indicator.
The standard version has a large 7-segment display which is built in the box together with the elctronics.
I asked the manufacturer to build me a special version that has smaller separated display.

I removed the instrument panel.

I took out the instrument from the plastic dash panel.

I tried different positions for the LED display. I found best the rev meter.
(yes, the strawberries helped a lot )

I bought some car windscreen darkening foil to make the display more "hidden".

That's all so far.
Tomorrow will continue, update comes later.

Yesterday I managed to squeek in a 100+ miles installed a Universal Vista Cruise and then installed the Kouba Links to lower the Strom. Still have to install my Stebel Air Horn, Sonic Springs, K&N air filter, light bar, some electrical connections, battery monitor and a Loobman is on it's way. Would like to mount my Amplirider to the bike permanently with the volume control in a location where I can turn it down when I stop next to a friend

Alreay installed Emgo mirrors, fork brace (from Murphskirts) Headlight protection, 12 volt sockets, LED Tailight assembly, pre-wired the rear for LED lighting from Admore, lowered the front, dash shelf. The bike arrived with Givi engine guards, luggage rack, E41 sidecase as well as the E52 Maxia, OEM grips & centre stand, aftermarket heated grips, Ram mount for my GPS

.....

Today I finished the installation.

In order to do a clean and elegant job on wire-routing you need to disassemble the half of the bike.
This is the (4-pole) connector that cannot be ordered from Suzuki !

Replaced with 3-pole connectors (btw these are the standard on 1Ks)

The unit with the electronics is Scotched to the front console, the connector of the display is zip-tied to the crosstube.

Here you can see the instrument panel connected

I am very pleased with the end result.
You can see the unit in action here.

Heading north tomorrow (Reno StromFest plus as much "no-slab" riding as I can cram into 8-9 days).

My final "prep" included a quick 40 mile "abuse" loop fully loaded. Nothing fell off so I'm good to go!!

I took my 1000 up the Nez Pierce to the Magruder Corridor in Montana-Idaho. It was raining, snowing, and sweet smelling....Nothing like it. High speed boogieing on dirt with a view!!! What a life. I may be old but I'm not dead!!
I love my Strom!

Installed some new 12v marine sockets for all my gadgets. Now I've got sae, powerlet, and 12v sockets. One on each side of the fairing looks pretty good. I also finished cleaning up all my existing wiring on the bike. You can achieve proffesional looking results with the cable tubing I've found. Otherwise it just looks like crap.

It was time so I adjusted the valves, and since the radiator needed to come off to do this I replaced the engine coolant. Once all that work was completed, while I was running the bike to get the air out of the radiator I synch'd the TB's. Then I washed it. I love summer break! Now I just have to wait for my rear tire to arrive so I can ride it. Stupid road trash.....
