New strommer

Hello all, my name's Josh and I'm on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I'm a proud owner of an '06 1000 and I'm enjoying it so far. I've owned several bikes in the past; most recently a '95 Honda PC800 (retired at 95K+ miles). Some other bikes I've had are a Yamaha V-max, Honda CBR 1000F, Honda 700 Magna, and some others I have trouble remembering. Most of my riding is commuting to work and the occasional trip when I can get away from the wife and kids.

As a note I wanted to say that my 1K has the dreaded stumble (whatever you call it) below 3500 rpm causing it to "miss" or "buck" when riding in those rpms. I talked to my dealer (Cambridge, MD) who put a call to Suzuki. First I should say that they offered to sell me a PCIII for around $600 (Keep in mind the bike has around 200 miles so far). Needless to say I was not satisfied with this. After they called Suzuki and got back to me they said there was a service bulliten out stating the problem and offering a reprogrammed ECM. The requirements were: over 600 miles, and checking other things like the TPS, etc. That was a much better alternative in my opinion.

So, I have a few hundred miles to put on the bike before any work will be done, but I have been enjoying it immensely! I am 6'4" and it gives me plenty of room. I look forward to many years and miles on my strom.

Happy riding and keep the shiny side up!

Nice to see another 1k owner. The remaped ecm will do the trick. Also if they check the TPS adjustment and do a TBS you will have a winner and as smooth as glass.

Welcome to the Strom world. I've had my 1000 for just over a year and have 16K great miles on it. Best bike I've ever owned.

If you haven't done it already, check the throttle body synch (TBS). You can make a homemade gauge with 16 feet of clear 1/4 inch tube, a yardstick, and some fluid (I used 2-stroke oil, others have used ATF). Here's a link to how to make a similar unit:

Mine ran rough in top gear below 70mph until I did the synch. Now it runs cleanly down to 55mph. It ran this way since I bought the bike with 4K miles on it, so it probably came from the factory like that. So, even a new one may benefit. It's the best $5 I've spent. By the way, do some research and add the extension tubes unless you think it may screw up the warranty. This way you can check the synch regularly.

Ride safe and God Bless.
