Not if. but when....?
Everyone has heard. it is not if you will lay your bike down, but when.
Well. today was my day...
The weather was unseasonably warm for December in the Louisville. KY area. so I decided to take a quick overnight trip. I stopped not far from home at a gas station to put in ear plugs that I had forgotten. While pulling out of the station. a car cut the curve short while pulling in. This annoyed me and I was distracted. I approached the intersection a little too quick and was about to go too far. I breaked a little too hard with my wheel turned which slipped out from under me. I wasn't moving very fast, and I was stunned a bit when the bike slipped out from under me. The bike (DL1000) quickly skid to a stop. and threw me off the right hand side. I wish I had a video, as I have little idea how I banged my left knee. I braced the fall with my hands as I was thrown off the right side of the bike (bad), which left my right elbow sore from the impact along with my left knee. I'll be sore for a few days. but fortunately I was not seriously hurt. nor was the bike (side bars & side bags are good!).
So. as I write this message from my PDA in the cozy comfort of my 'wigwag' hotel in Cave City. KY. I am doing so only as a reminder that you can't be to careful. and need to stay focused.
Happy and safe riding to all!!!!!
