Tubby , just so you aren't alone, I too will admit having FJR or ST fever. I have 270 miles of experience riding a rented ST 1300 in the Deal's Gap area. That's the kind of riding I love. What a bike. That thing is so smooth and planted in the turns. Bad thing is there's nothing quite like those roads here in FLA.
However, I work in outisde sales and I think I could justify maybe 10,000 miles a year for "business" travel. When I rode that ST 1300, I told myself the motor, windshield, brakes and handling were worth the extra expense. But I haven't bought one yet.
Some folks say the FJR is a crotch rocket with some sidebags, adjustable windscreen and higher handlebars. I saw the concept Kawasaki Concours at Biketoberfet. Looks just like an FJR. I wonder if Suzi would put a shaft on the busa and make one, too. I'm going to the motorcycle show in Ft Worth this weekend. All the eye candy is there. I'll let you know what I see :-))
If the money was right and the bike had a decent dealer network, I'd think that Moto Guzzi Norge would be really nice. I think if I upgrade, I'll buy an FJR. That heat thing was supposedly solved in 06 and a local dealer quoted me 12,700 on one yesterday. V Strom isn't a bad ride either.
