Horn Not Working

Hello all. I have an 07 DL1000 and upon recent findings, my horn doesn't work. I took the bike to get inspected and it wouldn't pass for the horn and rear tire. Needless to say, I don't use the horn that often! I have the tire on order, but I wanted to solve the horn issue. I check the fuses I knew of (under the seat) and all were good. What is the next thing I can do? If this needs to go to the Vee only section, mods please move. I tried the search and a general search on google, but I only came up with adding an aftermarket horn, which at this point I DON'T want to do. The factory is fine with me. Thank you.

The first thing to do is to unplug the wires from the horn. Then test the wires for power or apply power from a battery to the horn tabs. You need to figure out whether the problem is the horn or getting power to the horn.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

If you know how to locate the horn behind the radiator, un plug the leads at the horn and put a meter to them while pressing the horn button. (Bike or key on). If you get power, your horn is bad. If there is no power you will need to trace to wires back and check all connections. Don't know if there have been any horn button problems. If your horn is bad, many of us have our old ones we would be willing to give you. Some horns can be re activated by spraying WD40 down the throat. This generally requires horn removal though and I am not sure if it works with the V horn.
Ha, GW beat me to it while I was typing!

Looks like you found your problem. I had the same thing happen, no horn after valve check. I had hooked it back up but didn't push the clip on all the way or the right way. I've learned to start simple then go to the hardest stuff or start cheap.

When the horn works, it doesn't work. I can probably yell louder, and often do.:biggrinjester:
