what bikes have better fuel consumption?

so riding alot of long distance on my Vee has gotten me thinking about what other bikes might get better mileage. I know the Wee does pretty well, but @650 engine, it's not ideal on long distances on the highway, or at least from my reading.

wondering what other bikes out there might be able to get closer to 50+ mpg and still have a large tank?

I think the BMW 1200GS Adventure might be way up there. It has an 8.7 gallon tank, and I've read it gets 50mpg, is that enough range for ya?

Wow an 8 gallon tank, that is just insane.

Sent from my phone...there will be spelling errors!

My R1200RT gets 50-52 mpg at 70mph on most roads. (Only while on cruise control) it has a 7.5 gal tank. When I push it more aggressively it drops to the mid 40's. My Wee normally runs about 45-48 mpg unless I get a little heavy handed. :biggrinjester:

Have you considered a scooter?
They get great mileage; I refill my reflex every 300 km if I'm cruising at 100 km/h (top speed=130); the fillup hovers around 10$.
I know a guy who did Vancouver-Toronto and back on a 125cc BWS, but I think my reflex (or a burger) is more comfy for that sort of thing.

Do you want a big tank because you're used to guzzlers?
If my Reflex had the wee's tank, I could commute with it for a month before needing a fillup.

If scooters don't turn your crank and you need something manlier, then I recommend you try to find an 07 or 08 BMW k1200GT (the transverse 4). My buddy has one and I took a trip with him. My wee consumed fuel twice as fast as his bike at highway speeds (or above); both tanks are the same size. Also, that bike is ultra-smooth, comes with butt-warmers, electronically adjustable suspension, ABS, traction control, gobs of power and the best brakes I've ever experienced on any vehicle.

I get an consistent 53mpg running at 70 - 80 mph with my Wee. Gets even better fuel mileage at slower speeds.

My '07 Wee gets between 51 and 59 mpg which I'm really happy with. I personally haven't seen too many big bikes that get anywhere near that, but I'd love to hear about them. My buddy has a BMW 1150GSA that constantly gets 38mpg no matter what he does. The K1200RS which I'd like to buy also gets the same mileage, which is why I bought the Wee in the end. I'm curious to hear what other bikes people find.

That is very interesting, must be why there are so many sold all over the world. Besides having extra HP, more weight and getting less MPG......what does the Vee 1000 do better than the Wee?

Not sure on the tank size, but the BMW 800GS (can't remember if it's an R or F or whatever) gets insane gas mileage. The F650GS does as well.

Interestingly enough, my 2012 Wee gets better gas mileage at freeway speeds than my 2004 Aprilia Scarabeo 500 did. The maxi-scooter was heavier and had a 460 cc engine.
