my nominee for pillion of the year

when i told my fiance i was thinking of getting a motorcycle again, she said,"You have fun with that." well that was three months ago and now she has her own license and is looking for her first bike.

but that's just some history. last sunday we took the glee out to hwy 421 in NE TN that everyone calls "the snake". i'm not a knee dragger and the last time i found a peg, it was a rigid one and not a pleasant experience. well i found one again on the glee and things got dicey and for a couple seconds, even i thought we were in the ditch. but the bike decided to help me out i guess because we made it and i pulled over the collect myself and look at my peg and luggage. that's when i complemented my gal for not tensing up or shifting while we were dragging. she said she was dragging too and figured she'd only make it if she let me do what i had to do. well i checked her peg and pointed out there was no damage and she showed me her boot that had about 3/8" shaved off the front corner.

so proud :crying:

She's a keeper.

Don't let her get anywhere near BlackLab.

Meh....BL would only ride with her once a year....:mrgreen:

Congrats. If that happened with my wife on the back, she'd never ride with me again. I've mistakenly gone too hot into a corner with her on it so I know the feeling. I didn't come near what you're talking about.

Agreed - keeper. Very cool she's looking into her own bike.

[QUOTE=r1ng3l78;827645... i'm not a knee dragger [/QUOTE]

It sounds like you've got a great pillion!

I was not there, don't know what you were riding-roadwise, etc.

...but...

You don't need to be a knee dragger to know how to shift your weight to the inside. Doing so will significantly reduce your lean, therefore not dragging your pegs, etc.

Have a great day!

the stock bridgestones. that now have all the new worn off the edges

i wasn't sure how shifting my weight would work with a passenger or how she would have reacted to me leaving my seat while the ride was in motion. but we've since had lengthy discussions as to how we will handle it in the future. my favorite option being ride behind me on your own bike at your own pace.

i've never rode hard enough for this technique to become a factor but i'm now doing on the little curves just to get muscle memory in case it happens again.

Well, there is some competition. Mine just rode 3275 miles with me and not a single complaint; even when competing with the taxi drivers travelling through the streets of Brooklyn. Or dodging t'storms in West VA. Or passing logging trucks in Maine (I don't think she noticed the speed!). Quite a trooper i'd say..
