Still mullin' top case selection: Hepco Becker

I like the looks of the Hepco Becker cases.

The Capital Cycle folks tell me the Junior Flash edition cases wont be available until late summer. They're stylin', in my opinion. I'm told these Junior / Junior Flash series cases are different from the Journey series only in style. They all have the same maximum load capability, and it's a point that I can not discern from the H/B catalog.

I wonder tho, would you take the Hepco Becker brand (Journey or Junior) off-road? What's your opinion?

off-road? the v-strom isn't the world's greatest off-road machine to begin with. and yeah, i know there are a few people that have done some crazy off-road crap with the strom. bottom line is it really isn't set-up for hardcore off-road jaunts.

having said that, HB is a pretty decent brand. i've had the gobi bags for 2 years and love them. they are quite a bit sturdier than a lot of plastic and some alu bags. they are double-walled. not sure about the journey or junior lines.

Thanks, Teevee, you're right of course.

I have in mind mostly on-pavement, with occasional off-road in the likely form of graded dirt, nothing serious.

But, I've read some reports on this site of folks having their adaptor plate break because of flexing during off-pavment duty (not the HB brand, but one of the other big name brands).

So, that kind of "put me off" that brand, and I began wondering what brand, or comination of case system, might offer stylish (read: not boxy looking) and light off-road strength.

So, the Hepco Becker brand looks the best, to me (I saw a dealer available model, from Canada I think with HB, looks like "Junior" series luggage) was up to the task.

Am still interested in opinions regarding these Hepco Becker Junior and Journey series.

I have junior side cases, double walled like the Gobi. The 52l journey top case isn't as robust as the junior's but is more than up to the task plus I like the space it provides. All the H&B stuff uses the same mounting arrangement so buy the racks and you can mount any H&B side or top case. I've had this stuff a few years and haven't had a single issue with it falling off or open overloaded and stuffed to the gills. If I were in the market for new or replacements. I think I would be considering the Gobi series or H&B also makes some nice aluminum cases (pricey) not that I'm unhappy with the juniors I'm just leaning more towards top opening side cases now.
