To be, or not to be, that is the question.
To Pose, or not to Pose, that is the other question
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to stand
By your shiney Chopper at the local bar
Or to take off on a functional motorcycle,
To cover thousands of miles, swiftly and
In relative comfort or to have the chicks
Dig you as you chopper-flop your way
Down the strip. To be, or not to be.

Thanks guys. The wind buffeting is not a problem with me. I been riding choppers with my brother for a long time. Just never owned one of my own. Now I have that chance. I like how the wind feels without a wind screen. Its a solid flow of air, not the buffeting of turbulance like you get from a windscreen. Believe it or not the seat on this chopper Im buying actually feels better than the one on my ex-vstrom. Alot of you say I wont like it. I actually do. I like the way the bike feels and rides. Bike is going to take 8-10 weeks to build. Ill try and get some pics up the day I pick it up. So long for now! Ride safe!

Those Big Bear choppers are nice bikes IMO. If I was going that way I would go Big Bear. Custom without stupid high price. The bike gets registered as a Big Bear and not a special construction which keeps your insurance cost low. Big Bear kits rock.

I wonder how many hear have even ridden a chopper? Not my style anymore but don't knock it until you try it. Much of the poor handling is over stated caused by people in the 60s and 70s adding raked trees and long forks without making the other frame geometry changes necessary for good handling. Kits like Big Bear are a good way for people to build a bike and know they will be working with correct frame geometry.

Good luck Vinny. Stop by from time to time and let us see your progress with the build.

This is so funny, but too predicable.
"Hey fellow strommers, I sold this bike for a much better one. A chopper, because I want to be that babe magnet and it is such a better bike than a cheap old strom"

Now I realize that you did not say exactly those things but.....

Anyway it's your life and your money you are entitled to do as you wish, but I think you knew the reaction you were going to get with your first post. I for one like many motorcycles, but prefer certin ones in my garage. I am glad you are taking it in good humor and not getting all crazy angry with us for questioning your choice of motorcycles, cause we all know how bad ass the chopper boys are.

Good luck.

Unless you use your bike as a tool (commuter or work vehicle) the cosmetics of a bike are one of the most important decisions. I ride a DL650K6 because it is the best choice for me to commute on. If you are riding 20 miles to work, don't care if you get the best lap-time at the track, your idea of off roading is riding thru grass to park at a show then maybe the vstrom is not the best choice. I'd ride a cruiser if i was a weekend warrior or had a short ride to work.

I have owned and loved bikes for over 40 years. (Started real young!). I have never been on a chopper or for that matter wanted to ride one. Several of my buddies have had them and greatly enjoyed them. That being said, if a man (or woman) wants one, then they should go for it!

It would be a boring world if we were all just alike. Heck, I aways lusted for a BMW K bike. Something about that laid over four cylinder engine just spoke to me. Some would say I was crazy, that BMW's were over priced, etc. etc. They said I could buy two good bikes for what one BMW cost. ( They are right too!) But I don't give a Rat's Ass what they think. The bike was something I always wanted so I got one. Same for my Wee.....I loved it from the first ride so I took it home.

It doesn't matter what others think. After all,for most a motorcycle is an emotional decision, not one based on reason or logic. Its something that you have to love. It needs no other reason that that. Go for the chopper, the Hawg, the Honda, whatever floats your boat.

Some would see my Honey as a 57 year old grand mother with a few wrinkles. When I look at her I see a beautiful 24 year old blond with a big smile and the warm heart and spirit of her youth. I wouldn't trade her for anything. Its all in what your mind sees and wants, not in what others think.

Love my Vstrom, love my Beemer....oh....and I love my lovely wife. You find what fits you and you love and enjoy it too!

I know some may have been impressed by some of his post but have you really read them and thought about what he typed. I don't think he is gone, he likes to throw dollar numbers up on the board, I think he will stick around. But maybe LOL

Enjoy going bar hopping and riding in a straight line, cause that is about all that they are good for.;) I think that they are kinda cool, but not a practical bike for actual riding. Ever watch the biker build off shows? The dumb things break down "constantly", and you usually can't even go 100 miles on a tank of gas.

But hey....sounds like you are excited, and I am happy for ya. But, you will come back to "true" motorcycling someday.

Sorry Heavy

I am not going to take the bait, its not a subject worth debating. You are always wanting me to dazzel you with what ever now its your turn. There is a lot I know about these damn things and about the proper tools to use to make working on them MUCH easier but most of you would rather listen to speculation and maybe's and use pliers. LOL

PS it really makes my day when YOU can not debate the situation and have to resort to name calling, in your efforts to get your point across. Besides its not about lowering myself I am lazy and don't like to type to people that don't really want to know. If I thought you really wanted to know I would tell you. BUT??
