Hard to believe that no one wanted my Strom! - thread closed by admin

Bike no longer for sale!

I had the bike up for sale for about a month in OKC.
I had a few people interested and only one who looked at it, he said that it had the clutch basket problem. (I ride an xt600 in Brazil so I thought it was smooth as butter, LOL) Anyway, the bike is no longer for sale. I am going to do another tour on it and this time about 25,000 miles. Maybe I will do Alaska? I am planning on using a trailer this time so it should be interesting. It is hard to believe that no one wanted to buy it, it looks great and runs great. I had a blast riding it around OKC for the month that I was there. I did see umpteen Harley's and Harley type bikes while I was out. Why people would choose a Harley over a V-Strom just befuddles me, when someone lets me ride their Harley, I can not wait to give it back to them and get back on the Strom.

Put a Harley sticker on the side and some chrome. It'll be gone in days.
I see other riders in this area on the board but on the road, it's all cruisers.

I saw a rider today on a Harley electra ultra super classic magic FL*X glide!!!
The bike was huge and the rider was minibike size. He looked ridiculous.
But he had a Harley!

I didnt see your ad, so I have no idea of your pricing etc. I habe been in real estate business for 30 yrs and automobile business for about the same, and anything will sell if priced right. If an item doesnt sell within 60 days, usually it is priced to high. Sometimes an item is worth more to us than to anyone else, so in that case I keep it and enjoy it. Just my 2cents worth.

Too high. You won't get out what you put into it. Consider removing the extras and selling them separately. Generally speaking, the farkles make a bike sell quicker but not for more money. Yes, there are a few riders who see the value in what you've added to the bike, but they are few and far between.

This is my craigslist ad. Not trying to sell it on this page, just showing what it has on it.

This is a 2007 suzuki v-strom 1000 I bought new in 08 it has lots of extra's. Leo-vince exhaust, givi side and top bags, crash bars, pivot pegs, power commander, cruise lock, corbin seat, brand new Conti attack tires ( 100 mi.) new battery, k&n filter, skid plate two wind shields, gold valve forks, flashing brake light, HID head lights. I'm sure I'm missing something. Absolutely nothing wrong with bike. 14,000 mi. always amsoil at 3000 mile.

Just a note: the corbin seat is not on the bike in these photos. I ordered it in grey metallic and it came in sliver. It looks like crap but it's great on long rides. I can lower the brice without it.

Mike

I will list it here this week and if it doesn't sell then all the goodies will come off.

Its the economy alot of people a tapped out financially they can get credit and make payments but dont have any available cash for even smallish purchases such as a used bike.

I was selling a sportbike a couple of years ago in mint condition with higher than average miles for a very good price took over 6 months to sell.

The same year I sold a Nissan suv in mint condition for very good price also took about 4 months for that one.

I read recently harley davidson sales are up I also know for fact that Harley will get anybody financed, without trying to put all HD owners in one group the few people I know that have recently purchased $20K+ harley's cant rub two nickels together!

I have found cycle trader the best place to sell a bike privately it virtually eliminates tire kickers and people trying to trade junk ie craigslist.

That's what is going to happen to my '09 Wee-ABS. I've had it for sale for the last couple of months without response. t's a great bike, well set-up to ride anywhere.

Now, my Stelvio NTX is in and ready to picked up this weekend, so the disassembly of several hundred dollars of accessories from the Wee will begin.

Ride safe.

As long as Suzuki is loaning money for free (0% for 5 years), used bikes will have to be priced very aggressively for someone to opt to save and spend hard earned money over borrowing and paying over time. Just my own 2 pennies worth.

Hmmmm

I own an Repo Business here in Charlotte, NC. I repo more Harleys than everything else put together. I have yet to get an oder over for a V-stom. Most Suzuki Repo's I get are GSXR's and a couple cruisers here and there. The finance company I get most repos for are HD and HSBC.
