I saw 130ish indicated once on a long, straight open stretch. Yeah. I'm done with doing that. Too much to go wrong. More fun to go quickly in the corners than on the straights, I think. I don't go all that fast in corners anyway :P

I'm still getting over a broken hand, broken wrist, and dislocated shoulder from seeing how fast my bike would go. It's an extremely bad idea to try that with a touring windshield and full luggage. Unrecoverable tank slappers happen. If a bare bike is involved, such a scenario is unlikely but no longer my idea of a smart thing to do. There are plenty of interesting road anomalies and animals out there.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

too fast.

I agree things happen very quickly. I just get carried away once in a while. This bike, like my Triumph Tiger, loves 80 mph.

Speedo is way off try again with gps, will probable be under 130. I rode mine with touring shield, Touratech zega cases, top box for quite a few miles WOT, gps says 110 mph.

805gregg,

Is that 110mphwot on a 650 or a 1000?

My stock 1000 hits 200km/hr (125mph), at which point I get scared and back off, but it's still pulling hard at that point and nowhere near red-line. I've only done it a couple of times late at night with no one else on the freeway. I'd hate to hit turbulence at that speed.

I'm pretty sure it would reach 140mph without much problem. (But then I don't have a GPS.)

DL1000K6 Two wheels good; four wheels bad.
