Why so many Wee's showing up for sale?

In the For Sale section of the Forum over the past few weeks there's been a lot of Wee's showing up for sale, but very few Vee's. How come?

Not trying to start a feud or anything like that given that I'm a Vee owner, but for all the virtues extolled on the Wee it seems strange so many have shown up for sale.

IMO there are a lot more Wee's out there than Vee's therefore more would be for sale at any given time. Also, most motorcycle owners try to sell in the spring when the market is hot.

Maybe they are selling the older models to get the 2012 Wee.

We interrupt this marriage to bring you the riding season.

2011 Wee - Black (The Black Heathen) - Traded in
K7 Wee - Silver (Thunder) - Sold

It's spring. And the new 2012 DL 650 is 'better' , quite a few riders will upgrade if they can move their older model DL.

(Bad luck that the 1000 hasn't had a refresh yet, but that's life)

I managed to get a ride on the 2012 DL650 and thought they did a fairly nice job on the bike. The thing is that I have a 2009 model with about 28,000 miles and because of all the farkling I have done over the period of 3 years I like that bike better than the 2012.

Even though the suspension on the 2012 is a bit better up front my suspension is still better than the 2012 but not nearly as harsh (Racetech). While they did a nice job with the new windscreen and buffeting my Madstat and two windscreens (spring, summer, fall and then a winter one) give me cleaner air.

All in all if my 2009 was on it's last legs and I needed to get a new one I would probably buy the 2012 but as it stands now I can't justify the expense for little or no gain.

I did , proof enough.

I'm not saying everyone will upgrade - but if you can sell your old bike, yeah, it's an attractive option. Attractive enough to boost the "for sale" numbers anyway.

And it *is* better. How much better, well, that's in the eye (or wallet) of the beholder.

Motorcycles are a horrible investment anyways.
Especially if you ride them.
Everything else is a question of magnitude.

Wee's are more popular, easy to sell, people want the new model and as mentioned, it's spring....

I thought about the 11 650 Wee last year and just decided to wait. Glad I did and picked up my 12 this year. The new look/design is a nice refresh of the old model.

I really think you get decent value for what you pay for the Wee given whats out on the market right now in the 650 dual sport class.

The 12 Wee is the flavor of the day for now...and with gas prices going up will continue to be affordable to ride.
