Allstate doesn't insure the wee strom???

just got off the phone with my allstate agent, and he told me he can't insure my '06 650 because it's on allstate's "list" of uninsurable bikes. WHAT???????

i'm currently with drive (progressive), but wanted to switch to allstate to save money on our car insurance that's also with allstate. the weird thing is, he gave me a quote on friday for the vstrom (i just remembered that as i was typing - otherwise i'd have asked him about that).

i'm in north carolina, if that means anything. i can't believe that allstate won't insure the dl650. is he full of s**t?

any insight would be appreciated.

Make sure it is the DL 650 and not 1000 or some other bike. My own insurance company had trouble finding the Wee in their system. The 1000 was down as a DL 1000 and the Wee was under "V-Strom 650".

I just insured mine with Allstate in Texas and got a better rate than progressive or bikeline.

Checkout Sentry insurance, which is "Dairyland" for motorcycles. I pay $304 per year, for full coverage.

Did your agent give any details on why they do not insure it? Many times companies will not ensure vechiles that have poor quality or depreciate quickly, etc.

If anyone remembers the Pontiac Fiero, then they know exactly what I mean.

State Farm beat Progressive's price on insuring my DL 650 by about $100. Might want to check them out.

I have All State for all my bikes. Had no problems getting insurance. May just be your agent not knowing the system.

thanks, guys. i think the "listed under vstrom" is the problem. i'll check with him tomorrow and give you the update.

i'll check out the other companies you suggested as well.

Haha, State Farm beat Progressive for me by about 1200 bucks. Thank goodness. Plus my old bike with State Farm works out to be about 6 bucks a month (a 89 Yamaha XT600 dual sport).
