New Mexico riders! New mailing list

Well, after my 500 mile ride on Sunday with jomawan, it got me thinking: There has to be more vstrom riders in New Mexico, and it sure would be fun to go tearing around with them sometime.

As such, I setup a mailing list. If you are in NM or nearby, please go sign up here: http://lists.snurkle.net/mailman/listinfo/nm-vstrom

Then, whenever one of us feels like a ride, we can easily drum up some like minded folks to go terrorize rural New Mexico with. Heck, sign up and come ride with us even if you dont have a vstrom.

Anyway, hopefully someone else will think this is a good idea

Went there, did the work. I'm looking forward to finding out how many Strom riders there are in our area.
Thanks for your time Cavehamster. Don't let the bats bite.

I signed up too. I'm gone more than I'm home on weekends but I look forward to meeting a few Strom riders.

I work in Los Alamos and live in Jemez Springs.

We'd love to ride with ya. I don't think we have anything really planned, other than going down to a toy run at the Capital Bar in Socorro on Nov 25th. The run starts at noon, so we'd probably leave Abq around 10am.

I'm on call this weekend, otherwise I'd suggest something. At some point I want to go ride up to Sandia Crest, that looks like a fun road

Regardless, hop on the mailing list if you desire, and feel free to post there or here if you have a ride in mind.

You betcha! The road that goes up to the east side of Sandia Crest from Placitas is unpaved. We ought to go before the rain and snow turns it into muck.

Yes, Sir! I drove that road without a whole lot of trouble on my Sportster once in summer 2001 when all campsites were closed due to fire danger; saw a sow bear with two cubs, several racoons and porcupines, bunches of raptors (all kinds), etc.
I have gone there from I-40, then north on 14 to the Sandia crest road and turned off at the camp ground road that goes to Placitas, and I have traveled the same road from where it begins in Placitas (Many times, both ways). Not very long by any standard, but interesting no matter which direction you are headed.
I guess you were talking about the twisty-turny paved road that goes to the crest of the mountain. That's a nice drive too. A little of both is an adventure.
Weekend after next? I'm ready. Let's talk about day and time to meet. Also which direction to go . . . coming from Placitas, we'll be climbing. From Cedar Crest we will be descending. Your choice my friend.
Anybody else in the Albuquerque area want to go?

Well, I'm not so good at going down dirt on the motorcycle just yet, provided that it has good downhill parts. So maybe up?

If we leave out of Abq around 11amish perhaps it'll warm up for the ride? Which day would be better? I'm flexible. Yer gonna be leading, as I don't know the way

And yeah, you other Abq area folks should come along, I'll buy dessert for all that show up, how's that?

Are we going this Saturday, or not? My workload is incredible with the up-coming move this month, but I'm ready for a ride. What about the rest of the folks who live in our area? Anybody else want to go?
PM me or Cavehamster and let's get it together.
