Talking Oil type

I am new to this site seeing I just bought a New 2011 wee...I have been riding for 44 years and have had 25 BMW bikes and just about everything else under the sun. Suzuki has 10-40 oil use for the wee...can I run 20-50 ?weather here in New England is 40 - to 90 in the summer...I dont see how 20-50 could hurt...And also any oil manufactures that seem to be the best for the wee...I have always used Golden spectro...20- 50 in every BMW i have owned...Thanks ridefast99

All oil posts must be discussed at https://www.stromtrooper.com/maintena...il-thread.html
It's a forum rule. The answers are already there anyway. All About Motor Oil is also a good source.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

I certainly hope that wasn't taken as giving him crap. If it was, I'd appreciate some tips on how to get the information out there in a friendlier way but not have oil threads all over the place.

Sorry GW, I was just wondering for the OP.... (you were not being offensive in any way). I know he is new here, but owning that many bikes he has to of been on other forums (BMW?). So surely (he) everyone knows about asking oil questions on car/bike forums....

Welcome, but calm down - Grey Wolf is definitely not an asshole. Hang around a while and you'll see he's a valuable source of information.

Speaking of the big oil thread, why isn't there a sticky for it at the top of this forum? Would probably be more useful than some of the ones that are there.

Finally: 10w40 is plenty fine, 20w50 is unnecesary - the bike is liquid cooled and runs pretty much the same temperature regardless of ambient temperature. Shell Rotella 5w40 synthetic is popular with a lot of people - it's relatively cheap, fairly readily available, and seems to work well.

Funny thing about A-Holes, they come in all flavors. From those of us who have been around a while to brand new members with only a couple of posts. Greywolf isn't one of them.

There is another Vstrom site.......feel free to go there. How dare you ask about oil, you should know better than that, and you have been riding for 44 years for crying out loud.
