Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, TN Strom riders ??

:?: I will be traveling from Chattanooga, TN to Gatlinburg, TN this weekend and would like to meet any troopers that live in the area. Our tentative plans are to leave Friday afternoon and depart Gatlinburg Sunday morning. I hope to meet some fellow troopers.

I was on the Deals Gap forum and everybody says "don't stay in Gatlinburg".

You might want to check it out:

Also, there's a Strommer in the Murfreesboro area that I sold some sidecases to. He's a real nice guy. I only know his real name and not his forum name though. He would probably know some good places to stay.
Hopefully he'll read this and post.

Kevin, I'd have to agree w/ avoiding Gatlinburg unless you really like the cheesy tourist stuff.

Also, wife and I just might be up to the area Saturday. Thinking of doing the Cherohola Skyway from Robinsville to Tellico Plains. From there, maybe towards Chattanooga, or back home to Atl. Depends on if we decide we want to stay out overnight or not..

G'burg

Well,
Wifes dad and stepmom have time share up there so they invited us to go. From what I have been told so far we will not be staying in downtown Gatlinburg, the place is located somwhere out of town. I'm about to head out and will call them when I get there for some directions. Main reason I'm going is to ride my bike and have an excuse to be gone for more than a day without stepping in dog crap. The last time I was there (about 5 years ago) it was tourist central and can imagine it is only worse now. Mostly kids riding up and down the strip looking to "hook up". I'll pass on that. If any of you are in the area and want to meet, give me a call. I've never been on the Parkway or Gap and would like to experience it, although not alone. Cell number is: 423-364-1911.

Hope to see you,

Kevin

If you want to buy booze Gatlinburg is the only place around. It is touristy but it is also inexpensive compared to some of the traveling out east I did this last summer. Cherokee is closer to the center of the good riding area.

Well, it's Saturday, and I'm sitting here reading the forum.. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the Skyway trip is on hold. Guess I'll cleanup around the house.. go stare at the Strom.. mow the lawn.. stare at the Strom...

But as anyone from Atlanta knows.. "Tomorrow is another day!"

Hopefully in the morning we'll be 'gone with the wind!"

(I know, that was really corny...)

Hey Kevin,
I may be headed up that way as well. I have no idea as what to expect. All I know is we will be at the Hamton Inn south of town. I am watching the weather forcast today.

And did they get you to trade your hero's for ghost? Hot ashes for for trees, hot air for a cool breeze?

We are staying in the "burbs" of Gatlinburg off 321. Traffic in town is heavy but I don't plan on cruising up and down the boulevard like the other jokers on their ass jewelry. Seriously thinking about riding the skyway...if anyone makes it up here, give me a call...I'll be here through Monday. It has been raining some but mostly just a mild shower or mists. Mostly cloudy but still good riding weather.

I'll cruise by the Hampton while in town and look for a strom. I'll leave a name and number.

Weather has been fairly good. It has rained some but short showers. A few jokers on ass jewelry; traffic is not too bad.

Perhaps I should have read this before Labor day weekend. I was in Gatlinburg. The wife and I were celebrating out 1st anniversary with a cabin without children. Saw many bikes in G burg but no V-Stroms. Hope everyone was safe.
