The Rev is back...

I was leaving the parts department of the local YamaHondaKawaZuki mega-store, having purchased a crush washer, when one of the techs rolled on to the floor with a brand-new 2007 V-Strom 650, gorgeous gray in color. She had me at "hello." I've owned more bikes than I can remember over the past 42 years, and the only one that I ever truly regretted having sold was an '05 DL650; it was an incredible machine!
I got light-headed, the showroom started spinning, and by the time I regained my senses I was arm-wrestling the sales manager over the OTD price. She's on my trailer in the driveway now, with ONE actual mile on the odometer. Updates on my website to follow.

Congrats! Is that the ABS model?
Nope. The dealer only received two '07 models and both were the standard models (both sold within 24 hours). I might have been interested in the ABS model but it wasn't available. While I like the idea of the ABS technology, I'll just have to wait until another time.

Welcome back Rev!!!
Good to be back. The folks on the VTX boards are a pretty good lot, but there's a lot of the "loud pipes save lives" nonsense there, and they seem to worry excessively about what the Harley owners think about their bikes...

I'm just going to sit here and giggle. I have the Rev's last Wee. Welcome back, Rev! And get the MadStad winshield mount. Works great!
Hey, Foggy--
Yep, I'll never forget that cold, rainy day as you rode off on the blue Wee. I remember thinking at the time "What HAVE I done?" Well, I'm back in the game now and I hope ol' Blue is still running well for you. BTW, I've ordered the MadStad mount--looks like a good idea.

Given your past history, a change to ABS in the future is certainly a certainty!

I got tickled when you announced this on the TWT forum, I just read it again and it is still funny - you need to buy more small parts online. Thank God you have a loving wife that believes in "motorcycle therapy"...

Yes, and the ironic part is that I NEVER buy parts from the local dealer's parts counter. Actually I am beginning to think that my wife encourages this motorcycle addiction; last time I brought home a new one she bought a new set of dining room furniture. Can't wait to see what she comes home with this week
