Northeast Meeting Feeler

This is in the general area for maximum exposure

If it results in a happening then we can link it to an events section

Vague Plans are

Middle of August little rain cool in the North country

Area Northern Adirondacks in NY or Northern Vermont---- nice hilly, few Leos, close to Quebec, days ride out of
metro new york new england

From Connecticut I would be 3 days around the weekend

Long ride up day 1

Ride around day 2

Long ride home day 3

As little as 300 miles a day and up to 500 a day

I like motels cheaper the better but if consensus is to find a camp ground that could be too.

I like the place for sure, 4-5 hours from me. Mid-august could be workable.

It would be great to have some sort of gathering in our "neck of the woods"

It would be fairly local to me so I'd be interested.

I agree, a northeast meet would be great!

I'd go for camping, myself.

Look forward to more info!

I'll add a Canadian comment. We're planning on visiting Le Belle Province this year and your proposed event would tie in nicely. We like to camp.
Hmm, note to the Yanks, bring your passport and you can have a French vacation.....cheap.

I'd be up for that also, I have snowmobiled in Quebec and would love to ride there as well

I'm definitely interested. Saranac Lake is a 5 hour ride from Rochester so anywhere with a motel as far as Ottawa, Montreal or Northern VT would be great. I've got my enhanced license so crossing the border is no issue for me. I typically go to Americade in Lake George every year, but the good roads are too full of rolling V-twin roadblocks to be of any fun. I mainly go for the demo rides for one day and don't stay any closer than Saratoga.

The ride up White Face Mountain is always a good trip and for the truly adventurous you can cliff jump into the Ausable River near Wilmington. In fact the KOA there is really nice (has cabins and lot of other amenities too) - KOA: Adirondacks: Whiteface Mountain/Lake Placid/Wilmington/Ausable River: Camp

There is a decent number of chain hotels in Plattsburg and from there you could route some interesting day trips. I'm happy to pitch in so let just let me know.

If you are really considering Northern VT, I'll clue you in to a great little secret:
Commodore's Inn in Stowe, VT. I'm in the process of organizing an FJR hoopty for this coming August. We are calling it the FJR NERDS (New England Riders Doing Stuff) '11. Here's a link to our little web site, for ideas on what you can do there, price-wise. FJR NERDS '11

The folks at Commodores have hosted many other bike groups (including COG) and they are very easy to work with. The prices really can't be beat and Stowe is a top notch (Smuggler's Notch!) location.

I'd be interested in attending a NE 'Strom fest, wherever it is, and will look forward to what you come up with. Lots of really nice roads to ride in the Northern Adirondacks. Or maybe host a Puppy Dog group ride?

PS - I'm a Motel camper. Not interested in lugging (real) camping gear around...
