Calling all Stromtroppers - I'm a V-Strom Without a Country

Hi Everyone -

I am always seeing groups of riders of every bike type, except V-Strom and a few others, out on the road having a ball together. Most of the time, I just ride around CT with a good friend that rides a KLR650. Another bike that's hard to find similar riders. So, I thought it would be a good idea to find a local riders group.

I searched on the internet for "V-Strom Club". Man Oh Man, I got quite a few hits for other countries and little, if any, for the good old USA. Greece or Italy is just a few miles too far for attending meetings or joining group rides.

Does anyone feel like I do? Is anyone interested in a CT riders group. Maybe we could have a few different groups within New England. Possibly, we could stay affiliated with this site and be called the Stromtroopers. If Mr. B. Keans approves it. Something I like about that name, "Stromtroopers"

If we have the interest, I'm sure we can make this happen.

I appreciate any and all comments from you Stromtroppers

i think a lot of folks who are into adventure riding typically prefer the lonesome road. i know i do, but then i've always been that way. never been a big fan of group riding and i can count on one hand the folks i'd share the road with willingly and without reservation.

as far as meeting and getting together... we're kinda doing that right now.

i spend a lot of time on the motorcycle tourer's forum:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/start

and most of us are like that, but we also have lunches and other get-togethers all over the place. it's how we meet each other and put faces to names and laugh at and lie to each other as well. visit us and see if there's a get together in your neck of the woods. there are a number of strommers over there too.

i know brandon has had some rides and get togethers in his area. i haven't been able to attend, but will eventually. call a lunch here and see who shows up.

The Motorcycle Touring Forum group does a killer job with events. Many of us have attended some of them and will all agree they are great.
Monitor the site for upcoming rides.

JasonJonas has a great website for the events too. Check it out.
It's great to see him here.

I posted a thread last week in the Events section on how to host a get together. Give it a shot. I used to do a bunch of them when I started a little club called SPM (Society for the Preservation of Motorcyclists  )
Some days about 5 bikes would show up, and others around 100. You just never knew but that is what made it fun.

I am going to host a ride on October 8th (tenatively) I will make this the first official Stromtrooper.com rally.

Use the regional forums to organize rides. You can also build a contact list from members in your area. Just post a note asking members to send you an e-mail with their info.

Get togethers are fun.

Hi Jack,
Definitely, we are on the way. The New England Stromtroopers sounds great. I even like the name. I just thought that logistics would be an issue with such a large area. But on second thought, it' a great advantage for riding in different areas. I'm not complaining but CT (maybe I am complaining) is not the most exciting state to ride in. Look an NY, MA, VT, NH, ME, Canda - those are the places I want to ride but for me that makes it a 2 or 3 day affair. It'sometimes hard to get the time.
Maybe we could have a few official rides a year and maybe 1 big event the helps define our group and put us on the "map"...Just a thought.

Anywho, I'm thinking about heading up North again, if you take it easy on me. Maybe the Berkshires, Southern Vermont, etc. Do Y'all have a hankering for another ride.

Bruce

I also like the road of solitude, but not always. Especially since I met a few of the Stromtroopers. Great group.
Also, I don't want a group the defines your life, like some sort of brotherhood. But, maybe a T-shirt and a secret handshake

You are right, this place is great for getting together. And, we do already have a nice t-shirt.

Thanks for the link.

Hello Brendan,

Thanks for all the tips. Maybe I do just need some better resources to get together with other riders.

An official Stromtrooper.com rally - Sounds like great fun. Where would you host the event?

Thaks for everything,

Bruce

New England Troopers Ride??

Bruce , If your looking to schedule a ride I think JohnS was looking @ the weekend of the 19-20 of Aug. wich I'm ok with. Jackpiner57 is currently in the Va. area but I believe he was looking to have us over in the eastern Vt. & northern N.H. area for the next time. Stephane will see this and we should here from him I know that a few others were unaware that we were taking the ADK. ride last time and voiced interest @ going on the next get together. I will if the ride is for two days camp. Stephane , Tom & I did camp @ the GrandIsle Park the last time & Strommette stopped by to meet us. we also met a few other Strommer's .
I'll P.M. Tom Tuesday to see what his schedule is like & let everyone answer & I will post in the New England section as to whats going on. But as I said in the earlier post Let me know if / when you want to take a day trip ( on a week end ) I usually have at least one day open most weekends. jack
