Posting at Stromtroopers

About 6 weeks ago, I put up a picture of a new VStrom windshield and a link to my site. My post was deleted, and my account here was suspended for a month. The person who did this didn't even tell me their name, they simply accused me of taking advantage of the VStrom community.

I find this offensive. If you search for "calsci" on Stromtrooper.com, you'll find 100 references, the limit of the search function. [This section deleted by KIWI], the electrical diagrams, the instructions for how to remove butterfly valves. I have the only comprehensive oil filter x-ref for motorcycles on the internet. My article about oils is extremely popular. I've never charged a penny for any of this. My review of the VStrom 650 has been read by over 16,200 people just in the last year, and judging by the email I get responsible for many people's decision to purchase a VStrom. My own VStrom has 74,281 miles on it.

The most popular pages in any motorcycle magazine is the new product announcement, yet somehow I'm evil for simply posting a picture and a link.

First of all I did not delete your link but I believe that is was deleted because you are a vendor and had not identified yourself as such.
If you wish to support this site as a vendor contact the Administrator and make arrangements to be represented as a vendor.

This site is very strict on the subject of copyright and you will not be permitted to reference the subject that I have deleted from your post above. Full stop. Don't even try to argue that case.

Good to hear you still have your Strom and are still making products for it, Mark. I have enjoyed many of the articles on your site over the years.

I think I'll take a nap.

First of all, many of us have benefited from your website and we appreciate your unique contributions to the motorcycling community in general and the V-Strom riders in particular.

That said, the website has rules for vendors and since you are the creator of the CalSci windshields, you are one and thus put the site administrators in a tough spot. Most vendors have not given back to the community the way you have.

I went searching for how to become a Vendor and didn't find it. But I'm sure it's not particularly difficult or expensive, and would be a good business decision.

BTW I've purchased two CalSci windshields from you and traded for a third. I started a thread reviewing your new "Shorty" windshield last August. So I hope both you and the site guys work it out and that you'll become a regular contributor here.

This message has been deleted by fatalerror. Reason: you are a vendor. read the rules, and then try again. 4 posts, and all for your product? no thanks...

I will not tolerate any of this kind of thing. This forum is for the use of members who contribute without personal gain. I am not really concerned about anything else. Everyone follows the same rules, and you are clearly a vendor.
Behave as such, get the OK from the Phil, the administrator, and make the appropriate contribution and everything will be fine. Continue to post about your products that are for sale like in the past and your account will be permanently disabled.

Thanks,

Ray

Mark,

Suck it up....quit trying to get around the rules. Pay the money and become a vendor.

Do I get a hint? Does a "premium member" get to post as a vendor?

A vendor is a vendor. Contact the Administrator.

Premium members are members who have contributed financially to the sites running costs.

I hope they don't chase you away, Mark. I've spent an enormous amount of time on your web pages and learned a lot. It all seems a little heavy handed to me.

Where is the FAQ or sticky thread or whatever about becoming a Vendor?

Every business has what we call a "Sales Prevention Team." Some of those teams are extraordinarily effective.

One would think that some administrator would post clear instructions on what was involved and what the costs were. I searched here and via Google and never found out exactly what steps are involved to become a vendor. Even saying "Contact the Administrator" is not very helpful: that goes by different account names on different forums.

So I hope that some of the Mods here don't power trip any further on Mark, since they don't seem to understand his background or stature in the motorcycling community

Mark, we want you here as a motorcyclist and a vendor. Hang in here for 24 hours and I think it will all sort out for the best.
