very strange farkles

well i was browsing craigslist and i came across this pic of a bike for sale and couldn't help but laugh at this ridiculous backrest and thought this would make a great thread about outrageous farkles or mods to a v.

Thanks, you solved the mystery of my missing honda accord's headrest...

The only odd thing about this farkle is how it is holding on there. I think using a headrest as a backrest is brilliant (cheap and functional in a not-quite-yet-klr-but-immediately-identifyable-as-a-wee way).

The owner of that Strom might have price fatigue, and who are we to fault him for that?

A backrest that is custom matched to one's saddle can be a pretty expensive add-on. E.g., at $229.00, the backrest for the Corbin V-Strom saddle is equal to 52% of the saddle's $439.00 selling price. Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | Suzuki DL 1000 & DL 650 V-Strom | 800-538-7035

Sure, the backrest evident in the first post won't win any prizes. It's hardly ridiculous, though, and not at all outrageous.

Looks like he may have created some sort of a luggage rack over the pillion from the stock tail rack and integrated the head rest into that. Pretty smart. I guess the only change I would make is to cover it in some black vinyl.

And the best thing about that one is that it can be reupholstered with my old cords from high school. There's no school like old school, Baby!
