crash protection damages head

I have Givi crash bars with an SW Motech skid plate. While doing the valves this weekend i noticed two indents on the leading edge of the valve cover, right at the gasket. Wondering how it happened, I looked around and noticed the marks are the same width and right above the Givi crash bar coupler. Somehow I hit something hard enough to move the bars up the ~inch to hit the cylinder. not severe, seal is still good, no cracking in the Al.

Just be aware it can happen.
