Buying a Used Wee, Help

Looking to buy a used '05 Wee Strom from a friend. Bike has 25K miles... He has let me ride it for almost a month now. Like it so much I sold my KLR 650. Question is... What should I be looking for as far as maintenance issues ?, what should I expect or be aware of ???? Bike looks very good. It has new tires, Chain looks good, Clutch seems to have some play, at least more than my KLR.....Any suggestions ???
He bought it used, and put about 5k on it. It has no maint. records from previous owner.. Has no issues that he knows of.
Also, being a very tall rider, he swapped for a DL1000 seat, added height, he was told. Is this true ?????

25k? Not that many miles, really. Wee's need very little care, other than the stuff you'd expect to do on ANY motorbike. There's quite a few posts about little stuff to look out for on this bulletin board. Try searchin' first.

There are no real issues to be aware of....

Here's a freebie - the DL1000 seat is a straight out swap...a bit higher, bout an inch.

I wouldn't worry, just buy the suckah!

Thanks, like I said, really fell in love with this thing.
Done some reading on here and never read you guys talking to much about mechanical trouble..... The KLR forum I am on was always talking about doohicheys and things. Ya'll talk more about [I]Farkling.....[I] Really like the things you can do to these bike.
PLUS the wife likes it better also. always a plus+++++++
Thanks again, Bill

It's a great bike. If nothing has shown up in a month of riding it's probably good. The DL1000 seat is more comfy for most if you are tall enough for it. As was mentioned it is a straight swap and you can probably find somebody to trade their 650 seat for it if you want to go back.

The only issue I can think of that valves are supposed to be checked at 16000 miles. You may want to do that since you don't know if they were checked.

The friendlier passenger accommodations was what got my wife on board with the Wee purchase. I added a tail trunk too, so she has somewhat of a backrest if she feels so inclined.

Biggest problem I've had with my Wee is not being able to ride it all the time!

This bike has a trunk w/ backrest. That along with the better seat has the wife asking to go for a spin, on warm days of course.......
Can't wait to put this thing on the toy hauler and head to the mountains....

The reason it took a while to get replies is because these bikes don't really have issues

25K is not much for them, riders out there with over 200,000km I've heard [130,000 miles approx.].
And the Wee's have been used on RTW trips [eat your hearts out Ewan & Charlie].
I put 27,300km on mine in its first year [09 ABS Wee].

Ock. in Oz

I ride naked and unafraid.

Wee Seat

I have a line new stock Wee seat if you would like to swap.

Like the others have said there are no issues with the Wee but since it is new to you, you might want to check the valves, change the oil, check the air filter and just give it a good once over for loose bolts. Very standard stuff that should be checked on any new to you bike. You will probably be looking at under $40 for all needed parts.
