Has a V-Strom ever been stolen in North America?

After owning an SV650 for a few weeks, I realized that I have a bike that actually gets stolen. That isn't something that I've ever worried about with the V-Strom.

But maybe I'm naive. I've owned two different V-stroms for three seasons and park on the street in Boston without issue. Also left the bike at trail heads or camp sites for several days.

If you have owned a V-Strom for at least one year, have you had your bike stolen, or theft attempted? Or heard of one?

LOL! When I was buying the Vstrom at the dealer, they tried to hard-sell me the low-jack device! I had to suppress my laughter...

I even have a first aid kit attached to one of my ammo cans. It is attached with a plastic clip, not locked in any way. Even that hasn't been stolen (yet).
I don't tempt fate by leaving the key in the ignition though.

The hiphop stunter dudes don't seem to like Stroms, and neither do the chopper biker dudes. I am perfectly fine with this.

I've had stuff stolen out of my tank bag, but that's it. There aren't many street motorcycles stolen in my neck of the woods, but I know dirtbikes and 4 wheelers get stolen around here frequently

Interesting - 212 views , 40 votes. Lot more prospective owners than I would have expected.

About six of those views are mine. Every time somebody comes back to check, it is a view.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

I'm a multiple viewer as well.

A couple of years ago I went through a week or so where I kept stopping and leaving my bike turned on (I generally stop the motor with the sidestand.) I would go into a store and come back not only with the keys in the ignition, but the lights on to let people know I had done that. No one bothered the bike, although I did need a battery after that.

Park it between a stretched-out blingercycle and a blinged-out bloatercycle and it'll be as safe as a dead cat in a floor safe.

Add the terrifying ergonomics and it's a wonder the insurance companies don't pay us.
