A Strom owner'ss impression from Multistrada demo ride
Multistrada Demo day at the Koups Demo Day in Harrisburg, PA. Great event; this my first time there and they seem like a first class dealership.
I'm a 2007 Strom owner; it's my first street bike and I'm mostly a commuter. Little in terms of adventure riding. Having said that, here is my impression...
...this is what an Italian bike is all about! Beautiful to look at, sounded great. Drove in Touring mode and it was very responsive. Guy before me said to keep above 5K and it was a joy. Wider, flatter bars were great to hold. I did not like the buttons - Stroms seemed better with gloves and sturdier. Now I know why I keep reading Strom owners complaints about brakes...WOW, this is what good brakes feel like. time for the braided line, GSX caliper mod for me! It had a buzzy feeling at the RPMs I rode at, more so than the Strom. I uded to think ours was buzzy bit this more so and it got me to thinking I need to stop babying my bike and let it rev. I loved the light feel of this clutch as wel as how the bike "snitched" into gears. Very nice, indeed. This had the low seat on it and I definintely did not like the feeling of sitting in a hard "U". It fit me but no room to slide back and forth. Why do folks complain of our seat??? I find very comfortable. Much smaller screen made me feel like I was sitting on a dirt bike almost. Definitely a lighter feel than the Strom.
Do I want? Well, as much as I'd love this piece of art, I rode my strom home on the freeway in 5th gear instead of 6th and realized that my paid for bike really is quite nice. Now I know I want (need?) the brake mod, some cool altrider crash bars, a forkbrace, and a Madstad bracket (to replace my Lowe's plastic spacers).
Let me know if you have questions, fellow Strommers!
