Question about Givi E21

Okay, I got the bike all ready for this weeks commute; washed, waxed, lubed, inflated, etc... Afterwards I was putting my Givi sidecases back on and I noticed that my self installed reflective stripe was now facing forward, instead of the back, simply meaning I put the left one on the right/and the right one on the left side. Upon closer inspection, I notice that the shape of the Givi E21's top lid are slightly larger on one end.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a "correct" side to have facing forward, the bigger or smaller? It works fine eitherway, just saying...

Yeah, I've noticed this too. I wouldn't think that they were built to be put on any specific way though, if that were the case I would imagine them putting a little "L" on one and "R" on the other in an inconspicuous spot. I usually carry mine with the taller side forward. I look at it from an aerodynamics stand point, kind of like how a fish, tuna for example being a very hydrodynamic creature, is fatter in the front and tapers down toward the rear. But considering that the rest of it is pretty much nothing but a square box I'm pretty sure it doesn't make any difference at all.

Mine have red reflectors on them so I put the reflectors to the rear "Doh".

I have seen several pics posted with reflectors facing the "front", is it really that hard to figure which way around they should go???

Don't get me wrong, my bike came out of the dealer's workshop after pre delivery and it took me three days to notice they had them on the wrong way round [first time I washed it :green_lol: ].

Edit.

Just looked at E21 pics.

They don't have reflectors on them :confused::confused:

Go figure, different regulations for different countries I guess. :yesnod:

E21,s

Just ordered a pair of E21,s and i have a question or two.
Are you happy with them considering there size. Also can you lug the bike onto its centre stand without taking them off.
These are to be used with a V46 topcase, is this a good set up as im going touring around europe for two weeks pretty soon also ordered a suzuki gel se

I've never had a problem putting the bike on the center stand with the E21's attached. I use mine with a V46 and there is plenty of room...unless I want to bring a bunch of stuff then I slap on my E41's.

FWIW, I did a 7 day trip last year with the E21's and V46. The V46 was empty and used only for riding gear storage when stopped. I don't use my E41's unless I'm hauling camping gear or have some special reason for the extra room. If I don't plan any stops that would require storing my gear I leave the E21's at home as well. My wife and I did a 3 day trip not long ago and used only the V46 for all our stuff.

E21s extra question

Thanks guys.Wingspan i see you and others have a two bag set up i need to ask do you have any problems filtering through traffic using the E41s.
i have looked at these and the E36/45s,and having spent hours going through posts/threads with photos and some also include measurements.
some setups are quite wide hence choosing the E21s as they look fairly slim.

I'm old, so I put the "high-end" of my E-21s to the rear. This gives me an additional inch or so of clearance so I can make sure my clod-hopper boot actually clears the case lid. BUT...to each their own.
