Installing a criuse control unit.. which one?

Ok Strom brothers and sisters, I’ve owned my 04 DL1000 since June of 07 and taken it to Alaska, California, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Washington state, and of course many miles out here in gods country (that’s Oregon for those of you who are less fortunate...). Things look like they are on track for me to ride the beast from here in Central Oregon, down the west coast, then head East somewhere North of San Diego ending up in Chapel Hill NC pulling out of the driveway in mid May and ending up in Chapel Hill about 2 weeks later . The point of this rambling is that I will finally be putting a cruise control unit on my bike and have been leaning toward the Audiovox vacuum based unit as opposed to the electronic unit (Rostra ?) made by the same company. I don’t really have excessive electrical needs on the bike as I don’t run any extra lights right now but I do love my heated vest. I’m having trouble finding posts about this vacuum based unit anymore…anyone steer me in the right direction?

Oh, I do have the MOTO LED rear turn signals from Adventure MotoStuff and I am considering some sort of additional front lighting for the larger triangle effect for bike visibility therefore the vacuum unit may be a better choice.

Fer instance, I have read that the vacuum unit seems to have a speed limitation of around 75mph??? is that right? I think Greywolf said something like that??? Also I do sometimes tool along just a bit faster than that, but probably only 85mph when traffic, road conditions, and speed limits allow so a built in limiter of 75mph may kill the deal if that is present on the vacuum based unit and not a factor on the electronic based unit, (probably save me a speeding ticket or two though... hmmmm).

Is one smoother than the other in operation?

Feel free to chime in with ideas, pros/cons of each unit if you’d like, and/or links to install pages would be helpful too.

Thanks.

R

I believe the Audiovox has been discontinued.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
