Hella 500

Has anyone mounted the Hella 500 on the Wee? Any ideas for a mounting bracket. The light is about 6 inches in diameter.

Pat Walsh V-strom light bar

You can hang fog lamps underneath or put driving lights on top of the bar.
The 500's come with 55W bulbs, which is pushing it for the strom's electrical capacity. If you buy them from Rallylights.com, you can get a couple of 35W Hella bulbs to swap out for ~$3.50 each.

"I am enthusiastic over humanity's extraordinary and sometimes very timely ingenuities. If you are in a shipwreck and all the boats are gone, a piano top buoyant enough to keep you afloat that comes along makes a fortuitous life preserver. But this is not to say that the best way to design a life preserver is in the form of a piano top.
I think we are clinging to a great many piano tops in accepting yesterday's fortuitous contrivings as constituting the only means for solving a given problem." - R. Buckminster Fuller

Like TGM suggested, the 55W bulbs will put a drain on the Strom's electrical system.

You may want to look into getting H4 Dual Relay kit with the one-headlight cutoff from Eastern Beaver. You can find it here: Eastern Beaver VStrom goodies

Aren't the 500s those huge ones? Do you already have them? If not, have you considered LED? The latest generation diodes are REALLY close to HID efficiency, although obviously not output yet. I'm happy w/ the VisionX Solo Solstice LEDs I got, aimed em out to the sides.

Bulletproof, 50K hour rated life, very compact, 900 lumen (I think 800 in reality), and very low power draw.

110 watt vs 20 watt for a pair... leaves a lot more juice for heated grips and other accessories!

the huge ones are Hella Rally 4000s If I had a GS, I'd have a pair of em in cornering beam with 110 watt bulbs

I was thinking of the 500s but the staff at Sesquhana Motorsports recommended the Hella FF200s, they are about the same size as the 500s but slightly oval with a freeform reflector, my plan is to get one in a 35w HID Eurobeam and the other a 35w crystal ion fog

I recieved an email from the people at Pat Walsh a while back saying their light bar was not recommended for 6" diameter lights. They also brought up the system drain issue. Thought it was nice of them to not try to sell me something they felt would not work for my application (unlike buying some things on Ebay or elsewhere).

I can't recall if it was this site, VSRI or ADV, but someone with a Strom fabricated a light bar similar to the Pat Walsh, but bigger for the Hella 500's. I guess if you can find that info and go with a 35W bulb you might be in business. I was planning on fabricating one of my own, but not finding lights to be a priority for my bike needs right now. I will post the link if I can find it.
