Dropped my bike today :(

My dad wanted to go to Rita's so we did, and on the way out, he stopped, and I was planning to go... so to avoid hitting him, I slammed my brakes and slowly let the bike down :X

On the bright side, the damage is minor. right turn signal housing broke (again...) but signal still works. No damage to any fairings. Scuffed my ASV brake lever, my bar end, and a little bit of the passenger peg.

TREX frame sliders for the save!

UPDATE:
I'm gonna buy some flush mount turn signals tomorrow (or order them tonight). Anyone have any brand/model suggestions?

Yeh, they due tend to want to nap at the most inopportune times.

[sarcasm=on] Oh, just so I can be the first...you shouldn't have been following so closely [sarcasm=off]

Did he at least pay for the Rita's?

No I had already paid for it lol

And, I'm gonna chalk it up to a rookie mistake, so as not to get into any debacles

I wrapped up the turn signal housing in electrical tape, and hid the scuffing with black magic marker.

I'm gonna buy some flush mount turn signals tomorrow (or order them tonight). Anyone have any brand suggestions?

If it can help: you are not the only one...

Dropped my bike on Friday morning too
Cost me :
- some minor fairing bruises
- left hand ring finger nail almost gone ... will need to wear a puppet for few more days I guess
- and the left handguard ! I tried to fix it with some Patex epoxy paste but it seems it wont hold ... That is what is driving mad the most !

All that because of a stupid, frozen, old mama on a ridiculous scooter, getting in the way, not moving -dull like a cat caught in the headlights of a semi truck-, although she would have had plenty of time !!! rah!!!

All that to say (no, I wasnt highjacking the thread ), that I had already changed the turn signal after my first drop a while ago for those below. So no damage there.

Drop count so far: 2!

and, the mantatory ATGATT reminder: wearing gloves saved my fingers and my nail afterall.

Ma I suggest.. instead of a flush mount that doesn't show up as well.. perhaps getting the Buell signals. They are shorter, more flexible and don't break as easy. They are cheap too.

Those Buells don't cover the hole though, do they? Also, I'm to understand that they require new bulbs?

I'm even thinking about ordering the OEM casing and painting the plastic with Herculiner. Think that would work as far as keeping it from exploding up impact...?

I was thinking about frame sliders, but I was told that they don't protect the plastic. Did your sliders protect the plastic on this fall?

On this fall yes, but when my buddy dropped my bike, there was damage to the upper right fairing. I think frame sliders plus an engine guard is going to be the only way to avoid fairing damage in all dead drops (and even then it's not guaranteed).

I think I'm gonna order an engine guard today actually...

I'm glad neither of you were hurt and the damage is minimal.

Seems in both cases someone else got in your way. Strange how that happens.

picked up some LP "turn six LED" turn signals today (clear lens...). Not sure how it's gonna look, but I guess I'll give it a go when I get home.
