getting a bit on the side

I've been unfaithful to my primary ride recently and I must say I'm likely to offend again. We have what you'd call an 'open relationship'; in fact, I'm fairly sure she prefers I go elsewhere when it's cold, wet and only likely to be a quicky.

Of course what I'm referring to is the fact I rode another bike rather than my main one. My wifes cb250 had been sitting in the garage for too long over the winter and I felt sorry for it. So to keep the mechanics running I removed the 'L' plates, fired it up and rode it to work last week rather than the strom. At less than a quarter of the cost of the Strom I felt happier about riding through the rain and leaving it sitting at work (under a veranda though). It also runs on the smell of an oily rag and has a better chance of warming up than my Strom does during the 15km ride to work. The most important thing is though, I actually enjoyed it! Sure it feels like it may fall to pieces above 80km/h and being a naked I did get a little damp, but it is so easy to ride in traffic!

My questions to you are, do you have access to another ride? If so, what is it and under what circumstances do you ride it?

I have a 200cc enduro for the really dirty stuff and I sold my other street bikes once I discovered how good the Wee is for everything else.

I'll know where I'm supposed to be when I get there.

I would never cheat on my Susie Blue. She's the only bike for me. My corolla feels neglected though, but c'est la vie.

If at first you DO succeed, try not to look astonished!

I have a 2006 ST1300A and a recently (like 2 days ago) purchased 2009 DL-650AK9. I've had the ST for 2 years now and have no complaints except for the weight, it's a great bike. I got the Wee just because.
Right now I figure the ST will be for >500 mile/>5 day trips with civilized camping and the Wee will be for <500 miles/< 5 day and remote camping.
BTW my wife who is a non rider, never has and never will, has been surprisingly accepting of a second bike. She, my wife, has never complained about my riding anywhere except lately she expressed a strong desire that I not ride alone anymore.
Also the ST and DL have also been getting along very well so far.

I rode my dad's versys, and I was instantly turned off. My strom is the only gir...err bike for me I may have to trade her in for the bustier DL1000 in the future tho.... or maybe I'll go Mormon, keep her and get a naked street bike on the side

I'm new to the motorcycle game though, so I need to keep things open and carefree lol

I use my Burgman 650 for commuting back and forth to work, about 50 miles a day. It has better protection from the elements. I try to save my DL1000 for longer trips, weekends, etc. The Vee recharges me every time I get on it, I just hate to use it as a commuter bike. They get along well parked beside each other since they are both Zuki's.

My DRZ400s was before the Wee, but the Wee gets lots more attention these days. Just don't have the time for more dirt stuff, and the DRZ is pretty marginal on the street. But really, it's like have a wife, the correct # of wives is 3. All at the same time. That way when one breaks down on you, you have another to resort to. If you have 2, they gang up on you, and break down at the same time. If you have 3, one is always on the outs. Since none of them want to be in this situation, they always treat you well.
And if one acts up, you always have another to take you where you need to go.

My fiscal realities mandate only 1 motorcycle at a time so my Vee has no choice but to be a do-it-all ride. So far, so good.

I have 2 bikes other than the K7 Strom - - a 1974 Kawasaki with 116,000 miles and a 2005 Yamaha TT R 225. I use the Kawasaki for short trips (under 30 miles) such as shopping. The Yamaha, of course, is a trail bike that I use to patro my 78 acres of woods and field. The Strom is for any trip > 30 miles.

I currently ride an '05 Vee, but in June added a BMW K1200RS. I use the Vee for my daily and local stuff and use the K-bike for a couple of "getaways" - one in the spring and one on the fall. It's a good combination, but I'm looking to add a DR (or something off-road).
