Removing panel holding Speedo/Tach

What parts must be removed to get to the panel holding the Speedo/Tach. I have a LED voltage Monitor that died.I had installed the original on my aluminum shelf. I never cared for that setup. I want to install the new on in the little area above the tach/speedo. I haven't seen a sticky on this removal.

Thanks,
Les

If you have a 2004 or later model, see the pic. There are rivets that are removed as in http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,1418.0.html as well as screws. #14 is one of two rubber grommets. They receive plastic spear heads that are stick in them so some effort is required to pull the pieces apart. The wiring harness has to be pulled out of the instruments when a little clearance is created to allow reaching it.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

The instrument cover is just a cover? This is where I Want to put the LED.
I previously placed it on a Rick Hughes Shelf. The problem is there is movement in the wires when you turn the handle bars. I put the unit near the steering stem. The unit has failed and rather quickly.

Thank you,
Les
