Shinko Tires

FYI,

Obama's 30% import duty on Chinese tires last weekend pushed me over the edge and I ordered a set of Shinko's for my Wee - $105 with my AMA discount, delivered from bikebandit.com

Unfortunately, I received a note Tuesday that the rear's were back-ordered and none of the warehouses in the US had any - arrival of reinforcements unknown.

Check with Chaparral; that's where I got mine back in July. $125 for both the front and rear, delivered to the door. Not sure though if they still have stock:

I second the chaparral-racing.com/ vote. Unfortunately, they are out of the rear tire until early November. $105 shipped with no discount.

$105 for just the rear? If that's the case, then wow, they've gone up significantly in the last 2 months........ I paid $125 total for both, with shipping.

Thumbs up

I just had three delivered to Canada for what would work out to be the $125 that you paid for one. I ordered from Dual Sport Outlet out of Oregan, and the rear was $70 and the front was $50, two rears and a front for $189 USD. then shipping at $92 and duty at $16. Had a credit with them, checked yesterday and they were still the same price. The customer service was better than anything from BikeBandit (who doesn't ship to Canada). I got the 705's based off what other people on the site were saying...they are a beefy tire with good tread clearance. Haven't tried them in the mud, but had them down a dirt road and had no issues.

Bike Bandit still shows them to be $54.99. If you place the order, they will honor that price once they can ship. I know this by experience.

Also, if you are an AMA member you will get 10% off.....and if you have Bandit Bucks, you get more off. I ended up paying $38 a tire and I ordered two 150 rears!!!!

Skinnifatkid - you shouldn't have paid duty on those - there is no duty on motorcycle parts and accessories, including tires. GST only.

Clarification

As stated in my post, the $105 was for a "set" of tires - front and back.

Also, Bike Bandit's notice stated that they may cancel the order if they are unable to obtain the item within 20 days.

Shinko Tires are designed in Japan and manufactured in Korea.

Obama's tire tax is on tires made in China.
