Trouble on the Dragon

This morning took a crisp ride up to the dragon for breakfast.
Not many on the road on the way up.
On the way back it was a different story.
After getting down off the dragon and running along by the lake a cop passed me going toward the dragon with siren and lights on.
Ten min later here came two more.
I do suspect someone getting heart prety bad

Riding the Dragon on the weekends is pretty scary. Way too many folks on it and I would say about 1/2 of them have no reason to be on such a technical road.

Between the noobs and the wanna-be cruiser bad boys all over the place it just is not fun anymore.

Glad you made it out alive.

There last month

We went up last month and stayed there at Deals Gap. Owner said there had been 17 fatalities so far this year some on bikes others in cars much more than the three a year average. He said that is the reason the cops are cracking down especially on weekends and special events.

Fortunately nothing happened while we were there and although it was my first trip, there was nothing scary about the Dragon and Hellbender long as you ride with some sense. Did almost run over a 200lb black bear in one of those turns. The locals said he was a "yearling" and next year would be closer to 400 lbs.

Go have fun but use you head!

If you saw an Orange Wee with Black Jesse bags it was me out there on Saturday. I thought about a myself being a noob on my way there but I got over the guilt pretty quickly.

By far the Cherohala Skyway was my favorite part of the ride.

As I was leaving the Dragon south for Atlanta I passed a cop with lights on and about 5 minutes later an Ambulance. With the number of people there I'm not surprised by the injury rate.

Its a fun trip regardless.

Thankfully, posts on this board don't count points against an English Doctoral. So long as the message is received, spelling don't matter.

I ran the Dragon early Saturday morning before the weekend craziness started. I did stop at the overlook before I left and noticed a woman's sportbike group was out running the Dragon and along with a group of Civics. Hope everyone was ok.

The Dragon's great but there are so many other roads in the are that just about as good and not nearly so crowded.
