2003 factory luggage (Kappa) question

My 2003 DL1000 came with a full set of factory/kappa bags. They are functional, but kind of beat looking. Mounts and bags look very similar (if not identical) to Givi mounts/bags. If I wanted to upgrade to new Givi luggage, any idea if it would be a direct fit, or do I need to spring for new racks as well? Hoping someone out there has tried this.
Thanks in advance,
- Skitch

kappa is the second line of givi

Most, of the givi will fit the kappa mounts. some (very few will not) I am 99% sure I have seen factory suzuki luggage put on givi racks on a 1k about 3 years back.

Go to http://www.fullboremarketing.ca/. They carry the full Kappa line. You can likely find the replacement cases there. They will be the same as the equivalent Givi, just a little less expensive. You ought to be able to find a Canadian dealer who will ship to you.

The OEM Kappa might fit Givi racks, but the OEM Soft will not. The OEM Kappa won't even fit the OEM Soft racks. Trust me, I just tried it. I enquired with AMotostuff and was informed that nothing will fit the OEM Soft racks except OEM Soft luggage. Maybe Zuk was smarter when they were using the Kappa bags.

A buddy of mine if bringing over a lightly used Givi top case this afternoon for me to look at. It is a V46. Guess I'll give it a shot and let you all know how it works out.

Interested to know if it works out. I am fairly certain it will since Kappa is made by Givi and the mounts look identical. Only part that could be slightly different is the spacing.

EDIT: I just remember I had a adapter plate from a givi case I had on a previous bike and it fit in the factory Kappa bag just fine.

When I bought my 2004 Vee, I got the full set of racks and cases. While the cases were all branded Kappa (a subsidiary of Givi), the racks themselves were branded Givi. All equivalent Givi and Kapa products are 100% compatible.

I'm jealous. I wish I had Kappa. My Soft bags said made in Italy. Maybe there's an Italy in China too because these things are crap.
