Something doesn't sound right with your numbers....98hp/96fp. The torque figure is too high for this engine. Typically, we'd expect to see a # in the low 70 range not nearly equal to the HP rating. Don't take this the wrong way...it's always hard to tell when you are reading what someone wrote but I'm not saying that you are bs'ing us...just that you may have written down the wrong number for the torque. The HP sounds right and you can pick up a bit more by cleaning up the intakes. It's not worth it to most people since you'd have to remove the heads to so it.

If you really are producing 96fp, call the shop and ask them to email you a copy of the sheet so you can post it...I'd be curious as to where in the rpm range you were getting the torque that high.

I don't buy the torque figure either. You might have a sheet that says that, but no way can that be accurate. I'm not accusing you of lying, I have no doubt the shop told you that figure and printed it on a dyno sheet but the numbers just don't jive with the rest of the real world.

Not even professionally built race TL's with big-bore kits come close to that. No way are you getting a Vee there with just slip-ons and a powercommander.

Just as an example, here's what it took for one of the racers over on the TL forum to get a TL1000S (which makes more HP STOCK than a Vee) up to 142bhp and 86 ft/lb torque:

100mm (+2mm) JE High Compression Pistons
Bored and Replated Barrels
Flowed Heads
Stainless Flat Head Valves
1040cc, 14:1 C/R, 0.9mm Squish
JHS Stage 2 Race Cams c/w vernier Cam Gears
Arrow Rods
Lightened and Balanced Crank
TLR Crank Cases
Lightened Flywheel
Removed Scissor Gears & Decompressors
Removed Main Clutch Side Scissor Gear
Pre Production 6 Spring Billet Clutch Basket and Centre
Barnett Clutch Springs
Full TLR M4 System
K&N Filter
Power Commander
Custom Fabricated Alloy Oil Breather/Seperator and Additional Vent from Front Cam Cover

Check back with the shop, something is amiss. They missed something. If your max torque is at 5500 rpm that means your max hp is also at roughly 5500 which is not possible with this engine no matter what you do. (hp= (torque * rpm)/5250)

2007 DL1000 faster blue, bone stock, Givi 52L top case. center stand, heated grips, 2006 XR650L sold, 1997 Honda CR250R smoker sold, 1982 KZ1000ELR Eddie Lawson version sold (sad), 1976 Honda 550-4 sold.

Hold on a sec, just thought of something.

Are you sure the dyno sheet doesn't say 93hp and 95 Nm?

95 Newton meters would convert to 70ftlbs, which is exactly what you'd expect out of a Vee.
