Question about blank cover on throttle side control

Just curious if any one has any idea what the small blank-off cover is for on the throttle side controls on the 650. It is right above the starter button. I didn't see anything on any of the schematics for the 1000. Is there an accessory that has a switch that would go there. I didn't try to pop it out because I didn't wat to break it if there is no use for it. It looks like an ideal location to put a remote garage door opener button. Don't know how much room is behind the blank cover though. Any ideas?

On my '08 650 all I got is the kill switch above the starter and an inch of smooth plastic in between...

It covers the hole where the headlight on/off switch goes in some countries.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

It could be used for something like an old school batmobile trick, maybe a smokecreen or afterburner button. That would be pretty cool.

Greywolf, any idea if it is possible to get a factory on/off switch here in the states?

The switch is not a separate part. Even if you went to a foreign supplier, you would have to get the entire housing.
