Anyone installed a car horn as a replacement

Hi everyone

Proud owner of a 650 wee as of 2 days ago..Burnt orange with full luggage pack and ABS.

On my old bike I installed a Fiamm car horn in place of my motorcycle horn..Worked very well. I wanted to do the same today but all I got was a popping sound when I turn on the ignition and pressed the horn button. Switched leads and the same..Grounded the horn to the frame..Same again

You can hear the diaphragm popping but no sounds

Any thoughts

Cheers

Search the forum for "stebel" and you'll find lots of information about installing horns. 3 quick hints:

1. Don't ever ground to the frame. Just don't do it.

2. You need to use a relay, as the amperage required by a real horn will burn out your horn button.

3. It's a very common upgrade. It's not that hard to make it work right.

Some horns like to be rubber mounted, if you mount them too rigidly thay can't vibrate, and the initial "pop" is all you'll get. +1 on using a relay also, most horns draw a few amps.

I have installed two Fiamms. One on either side of the motor.
