TPS took a dump...

My Throttle Position Sensor took a dump on me yesterday. Between 3k-4k rpm, I had -nothing- but spits, sputters, lugs, and chugs...below 3k and above 4k however, the bike continued to run like it always has. As luck would have it, I happened to be in Troy (about 56 miles South of my home in Montgomery) when my scoot mutinied on me. I got it over to Wards Motorsports (where I bought the bike new in 2007) and explained the symptoms. Ronnie (Ward's Senior Mechanic) took the bike up and down the road a couple of times to experience the anomoly for himself and confirmed my guess that it was indeed the TPS.

What happened next totally blew me away.

Mr. Ward said that if I'd like to leave the bike with them, they could get on it first thing Tuesday morning. I explained that, while I'd love nothing more than to do exactly that, I lived in Montgomery and had no other way to get home. So he called over his Used-Unit Manager and told him to set me up with a bike so I could get home and to -make sure- the bike had a full tank of gas. Then he shook my hand and told me not to worry about a thing, that the TPS was a warranty item and that I'd be taken care of...oh and get this...he said not to worry about how many miles I put on the Wee; the bike was built to ride and the weather was just too nice to sit at home anyway.

So, long story short, my Vee is in the shop getting fixed for free and I have a very nice 2004 DL650 Wee to play with until my Vee is ready to roll. I'll try and remember to post a ride comparison before I return the Wee...providing I can keep my butt OFF of it long enough to do so.

All the horsepower you need?

Please let us know if you think the Wee has "all the horsepower i'll ever need!" I've got my own opinion based on a couple of Wees but I'd love to hear your opinion.

Service like that is hard to find these days. It may be worth the 56 mile ride the next time you need some work done.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the 650. Lately I've been mulling over the idea of going to the 1000.
