Talking Made it to 50K... Now lets see 100K

It only took, 3.9 sets of tires, 2.6 chains, 2.2 sets of brakes, and aprox 1,100 gallons of gas, but I finally flipped the psychological 50k mark this week. I'm going to treat her to some fresh oil (no, not the first time in 50K) and a chain lube. I fully expect my trusty steed to make it beyond 100k....

Congrats, I am waiting till 50K to form a solid opinion of the bike. I am about 1/2 way there. Having several bikes keeps the mileage down on any one, unless of course I am riding that one as a first choice. The dl 650 is a great bike to this point. I have nearly all the ergo's worked out of it. Happy trails till 100K

high mileage Wee

Congratulations VNE! It's nice to know some (maybe most?) Wee owners stick with their steeds for so long.

I notice a much higher number Wees than Vees for sale on this site. The Wees almost always have low mileage, usually around 5 or 6 grand, as if the bike was less than expected or hoped for. The Vees on the other hand all seem to have considerably higher mileage, as if their owners enjoyed riding them a distance.

Yours is the first post I've seen celebrating such high miles on a Wee. Which does my heart good since I just bought one!

A couple questions: Do you do long trips on it? If so, what if any changes have you made to the bike to make it work for you?

There are many on this forum pushing 100,000+ miles on Wee's. And many more with 50+. As for thinking V owners put more miles on than Wee owners. You haven't been around here long enough to know that's not true.

You have to know the ratio of new-bike sales to even begin to evaluate that observation. The only numbers I could quickly find that seemed remotely reliable were for Australia 2007 - 3:1 sales 650:1000, so random turnover would suggest 3:1 Wee:Vee used sales.

Keep looking. There's a plenty. Another fellow posted an off-hand comment of being well over 100k miles the other day.

VNE. Congratulations! Check your mileage rearview, I coming up behind you...still a ways behind...will turn over 30k in a day or two.

Maybe the forum needs to introduce a mileage sticker or badge? I know a freind of mine who is in the Moto Guzzi club was sent a 100,000 mile badge after 10 years riding, but only for a short time each year of course. It was also all on that particular bike.

Well done anyway, I have just clocked 30k on this bike(about half way through my trip) and also did over 53k on my old 06 wee.

Cheers

I've only done two longish 600+ mile weekends. The bulk of the mileage is my 55 mile RT commute to DC. The only mods have been the gel seat from the Vee, Givi hard cases for the work stuff and flight gear, a center stand for all of the maint, and a Scottoiler... everything else is pure stock. Even the wind screen is stock. I guess after 1000 hours in Huey helicopters, a little bit of wind buffeting barely registers...

We just turned 52k on ours and it runs better than ever. It will defintley run to 100k easily. Did I mention that it has not cost a penny other than routine maintenance? I've always noticed on advrider there are considerabbly more 1000's for sale than 650's. Its probably all irrelevant anyways. Get out and ride!

2007 with 58,000 miles. Just came back from a 3,254 mile trip. 604 miles was the longest day. A couple of 500+ mile days as well.

2007 DL-650 (I gave away in 2012 with 111,000 + miles)
