Reliability

This is more of an observation than anything else. I dropped in on my old BMW board just to see what was happening. The first thing I noticed is most of the posts are around what broke or is going to break. On the Strom forum those are rare at best. It seems we are more concerned with luggage, crash bars and center stands. I'm not knocking BMW, I loved my R1150R but in all honesty my wee does everything it did and more. Plus people don't think I am wealthy just because I own a BMW, trust me on this one I am not.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing.

"It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for someone you love". Blazeman, Warrior Poet

Yep! One of the true joys of DL ownership is having confidence that your bike will not leave you stranded. Internet forums tend to be gripe-fests, with everyone bitching about what is wrong with their bike/car/whatever. The DL forums seem to be exceptions to the rule.

coming from a carbed SV, I have complaints about the reliability of the V-Stroms fuel injection

it doesn't start as well
coughs, sputters & farts more often
needs syncronization more often

what is this alleged advantage of FI

The difference isn't carbed v. FI. It's old emissions standards v. new ones.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
See https://www.stromtrooper.com/general...nicknames.html

personally I don't see the wee..... what it can do better than the big Vee, it can't do as well as the little SV650, the reasons I bought a V-strom are also the reasons I bought a Vee, if I wanted a cheaper lower cost more economical version, I'da stuck with the little SV

This is an ignition mapping issue rather than an FI problem, isn't it?

Yet this guy I rode with at Cromag last year just bought a DL650, and I'm thinking of buying a an SV650 as a track bike.

Good thing it's a free country!
