I did a similar thing to mine. Within its first 500mi, I dumped it in a low speed low side when the front wheel went to full lock in a patch of soft sand. Inexperience is a hard taskmaster. I now have a 4" long, "gash of character"on the left side of the tank, and a scuffed pannier.

I'd go with a Yosemite Sam sticker. That and a little touch-up with a paint pen and she's battle ready again.

Thank you for sharing your unfortunate mishap. I use the same stand and it is a very good reminder to make sure it is fully engaged before lifting.

I should put one on each bike. Both came with a marble sized dent with no paint damage on the tank.
