2015 650 XT brand new @ dealer. What should I pay?

There is a 2015 DL650 XT at the local dealer, brand new. They want $8k

My concern is it has been sitting for 4 years :/

What should I offer?

$8k USD for a 2015 650? No way.

I'd offer them $6k. I paid $7k (Canadian) for my brand new 2015 in 2016.

Two things here.

1st is the 2015 is a used bike in value. Yes, it is untitled with no miles and carries a factory warranty. So to me the price is for a premium low mile used bike plus some for the warranty. Well below $8,000 imo.

2nd is that you can take that $8000 and buy a newer model year, possibly even a current model year bike if you shop around.

And make sure you check the gas tank for any corrosion. If it's been stored properly it should be fine. But check nonetheless.

Have them put a fresh/new battery and a fresh/new oil change and filter and enjoy!

I paid less for my '16 xt in '16. You should be able to drive the price down quite a bit, it isn't even the current body style.

I paid high $7k for my '15 650XT in early 2016. I agree with others that it's an 'old' cycle. Styling and technology has changed since then. A 2019 model might have a good stator in it and you won't have to change. There is a factory recall on the '15 stator. Did they fix that on what you're looking at?

Unless you get it cheap - cheap, I'd buy a newer version.

I paid $5300 USD for my new 2017 (Base model) last September. At the time a local dealer was trying to sell a new 2015 for about the same price. That 2015 will depreciate like a rock from their asking price.

I'd definitely pass on this deal. The moto was very likely not properly stored and the price is crazy. There's a 2018 for 6300 in Long Beach CA listed in Cycle Trader. Offer 6k and enjoy the much newer ride.

Just to be fair, let's be certain that we're all talking the same thing here. Were these all complete out-the door prices? include tax, prep, destination, all of it. What was the actual price, what it took to make it yours. Then I think the 8k looks a little better but is still too high. Wouldn't worry about the time storage factor if it was never serviced when new. Best, DD
