Yes they do sell motorcycles in BC; however, there are not a lot of DL1000 for sale. Got a good deal on this one, ergonomics from the add-ons is quite good so the bike fits me well. Got to see Mom - 87 this year, and my daughter and son-in-law in Ottawa, win win all round. Nothing like a good road trip to determine if something is going to work for you.
Rode in good weather, wet/dry, cold (3-4 deg C) - tried out the hand warmers, nasty cross/head winds, twisites/long straight stretches, road types from unmaintained gravel/muddy to excellent fresh blacktop. Since I was riding in dark hours found that the lighting was very good.
Now it's back to reality. If it's raining drive car, if cold - maybe/maybe not, riding at 0600 not very likely. Buying a local bike would not have given me the same appreciation and insight into the bike, nor would I have had to ride in certain conditions, would have had a choice.
Now it's on to maintenance, doing what I think is needed to have peace of mind.
Sonya and I went out yesterday for a two up ride, did a short 50 Km ride. Lots of room for both of us on the bike. The passenger pegs need to be rethought, along with a few other issues. Looked at the suspension setup and understand it more because of the two up ride. Need to find/make arm rests for Sonya, a fact of life - she feels more secure with them. I like riding with her and if she is comfortable, all is good.
Looking forward to more rides on it and getting a few issues I noticed taken care of.
