Whirring

2019 vstrom. Tightened chain resulting in loud whirring from front sprocket and seemingly front wheel. Lossened chain and front sprocket sound went away. I still hear a whirring sound from front wheel when driving or even coasting with clutch held in. Normal tire sound? Bridgestone battle-ax . Bike has only 3000 miles on it mostly on expressway speeds greater 70+ mph. thanks.

I get a "whirring" sound at around 4500-4600 RPM that sounds like it's coming from the front wheel. Every bike I've owned had some sort of sound like that at various RPM's. My Katana used to do it at 3500RPM. Probably just the various vibration frequencies synchronizing to produce a hum. I don't worry about it.

I would worry about the front sprocket whir after tightening the chain. You did the right thing to loosen it. There are many threads here advocating running the chain with a little more slack than recommended.

Too tight will put extra load on the chain, sprocket, and countershaft bearings. I always adjust my chain to the maximum allowable slack 1 1/4in. A little more is fine - a little less can accelerate wear.

All tires make some sort of humming noise on sealed road. It becomes more pronounced with the clutch in.
