Adios, Motorcyclst Magazine

A couple of weeks ago I received a notification that my Kindle subscription to Motorcyclist was canceled. In checking it out I couldn't seem to re-subscribe. It took a bit of googling before I could find an article explaining they were ceasing publication of their print magazine. They will still have a web presence.

Sad to see it go, but this seems to be the way of the future.

If it's a good day to wash the bike, it's a better day to ride the bike.

That is a bummer!

I dont think its an old guy thing but there is so much more enjoyment to be had actually buying and holding and leafing through the printed page. Oh and th big glossy juicy pictures. I poisoned my daughter that way as well and she wont Ebook.

When I was in my teens and early 20's I would stop and pick up 2 or three Motorcycle mags. I remember when they show cased the NEW Suzuki Katana ... I thought the gods must be working over time as I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

One day maybe a project Katana will happen by and I will get to own one but those magazines sure were fun!!

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago I got a notice that it was time to renew my subscription (LAST ISSUE warning) and inside the issue was the notice that they were ceasing printing....WTF?

I also let Cycle World go. I just never got into the coffee-table-book look of the new pubs. I don't need collector-edition style pictures. I liked it the way they used to be with the Service section and fantastical rider reports, etc.

Color me gone.

It's too bad the print option is going away for many publications. I have enjoyed Road-Runner for years, but bought very few. I have several that I drag out and re-read every year, and I still enjoy the pictures, articles, and tours. A digital copy just doesn't have that appeal for me. DD

I let that magazine go two years ago. I felt they kinda went off the deep end. I was really glad to see Ari Henning sign on with Rider.

I've had several of these "Motorcycle Mags" either go to last issue status and instead we are transferring the remainder of the subrcption to :xxxxx

I liked motorcyclist , it was very informitive. Now I have the Cycle world til the subscription ends. Great article there on the Kawasaki H1.

I'm also a print in color fan. I don't care for the digital mags. As I read a lot at work during breaks and lunch time.

Easier to share with others too. So yes I'm sad to see them go to digital only.

I let my subscription with them lapse when they changed format. I'll do the same with Cycle World. Pity, seems Rider is the only remaining magazine in my preferred format, but they have also always been my favorite. I like a hot cup of coffee, or other beverage, a side table, comfortable chair, and a real magazine, ads and all. Tablets, laptops, desktop in my office, just not the same.

Yeah , I have to agree with you on that one. You have to feel the pages in your fingers - I don't care
for the ads but they are part of what keeps the magazines in print. And if the ads are motorcycle
related sometimes they can be of some benefit.

I actually like the new CW....seeing that we can get almost up to the minute info, instead of waiting 2-3 months lag time via the publishing cycle, I can appreciate a slower paced, nicer looking print mag like the new 'coffee table' CW........sure it's fancy, but it doesn't stop me from parking it in my reading bin next to the toilet! Gotta support moto-journalism by buying their albums, so to speak....
