She's Mine! Finally

I finally picked up my first Weeee yesterday! It's taken a while, but it was worth the wait.
2005 650 with almost 44,000 miles. Beautiful condition with most of the farkels I need and a great price,
$2,700. The seller was in love with the bike, and bought it from the first owner, his best friend. Nice guy, honest, great buying experience that I feel good about. To top it off, I had a scenic drive from Truckee, CA to my home in SOuth Lake Tahoe around the Lake around sunset for my first ride on her. Sweet! I can't wait to adventure on this beauty.

Hola and excellent purchase.
I've got an 04 that just turned 100K miles. Only a fork seal, one valve check and a rear shock rebuild were required so far.
The usual chains and sprockets every 20-25K miles.
I picked up an 05 salvage as a back up. It's still a project.
The early Wee's seem to be rather trouble free if you don't wrench them to death.

Thanks Notacop. There were pretty good service records with this. Fork seals done, chain and sprocket fine. The oil appears low this morning. Any preferences with oil by chance? I'd like to top it up, as it isn't due for a change yet.

There is a huge oil link.
The venerable GW suggested that a full was at the top of the sight glass when on the center stand. If you can see oil in the sight glass you may be good to go.
Ride the Bugger and enjoy.
I rode home from St Paul with a full sight glass back to LA. You will get used to oil consumption as you get used to the bike.

Well done! That's a great looking machine, and a fantastic value. How would one ever find more smiles per dollar? I envy your gorgeous scenery out there too. DD

Thank you Dubldee17. I'm very happy right now. The scenery is amazing, and the snow is leaving us, finally! I now need to rig her up to safely carry my large format film camera pack. It'll be fun tinkering.
